5 out of 5 starsLovely to look at and comfortable to wear. It still has a feel of the sea about it and I've had so many compliments on it since I've been wearing it.

Sea plastics transformed into great jewellery!
Washed and Found was created after a day on the beach - I couldn't believe how much plastic was broken up into the sand.
Pieces of Lego, bottle tops, fishing beads, buckets and spades the pieces were bright and interesting but too small to be recycled so would end up in landfill.
I really felt there must be a way of making something out of them to show people just how bad it was and how small the pieces were becoming. I wanted to created a new material, a way of encouraging the collection and see them like a resource. To do this I started making...
I love the idea of the pieces having a previous use and life and transforming them by collecting them together. Bringing an element of surprise when the wearer sees just what's inside.
The cloudy appearance makes the colours merge whilst giving the pieces a sea glass almost pebble like feel. Its really important to me they have an organic and natural shape.
Some imperfections do occur through the making process like bubbles and slight indentations. These are sanded out but will mean the bangles are not factory perfect but have hand made quality.
They are made using Bio resin which is 50% plant waste based. I buy it locally in Bristol but it is made in France. The company is one of the leading manufacturers in Bio resin development and is used to make surf boards.
It’s is completely UV stable and will not change colour over time.
So much needs to be done to stop the flow of plastic into our oceans and this isn't a solution but as a Mum and a Maker and a lover of the sea this feels like for now this is something I need to pursue so have a browse in the shop and next time your go to the beach take a bag and do a beach clean! xx
