Windmillhandknits

Chunky cable headbands made with love and care to order

Marlow, England

Announcement    I am loving making headbands for customers and the most common feedback I get is "I love my headband!"

Back to School, there is a definite chill in the air first thing.
If you need to leave the house early, pop on a headband, keep your ears cosy, keep stray hair at bay, and look stylish (whether you have had time to style it or not) . Not just the school run but perfect for September holidays, early morning dog walks, socialisation outside with friends in the evening.

About Windmillhandknits

Sales 7
On Etsy since 2021

The lockdown activity that became a small business!

Winter lockdown 2021 was boring and I needed something to do. Others were volunteering with vaccination clinics and community projects , but as I am in the vulnerable category I couldn’t get involved in that. I had taken up knitting again making a few headbands for my daughter and her friends.

“These are really nice, Mummy” she said
“You could sell these!”

I took the plunge and posted on a local Facebook group, offering to make them to raise funds for One Can Trust, our local food bank.

I had 50 replies on the first day! As I am handknitting , there are only so many I can make in a day, but people were prepared to wait for their order.

And when they got their first one, they wanted another!
Someone asked if I could post them? I realised if I posted them flat with card inside, I could send as a large letter!

So, friends and family, and friends of friends started ordering all over the UK.

I joined a Facebook challenge to turn a hobby into a side hustle and Windmill handknits was born 👶

I still love the knitting, I love my customers, I love all the social media and running my Etsy shop. Really looking forward to the Autumn & Winter season, I’m building up stock so if I get 50 orders this time,it won’t take me 4 weeks to catch up.

Thanks for reading, see you here soon
