A Journey with Wire

I am a multidisciplinary artist creating paintings, 3d work and wire work jewellery.

I feel my creative journey has really only just begun and after years of neglecting my artistic side I have now rekindled my love of painting, drawing and making things. I took up jewellery making over 10 years ago when I was bought a kit as a gift from my Sister in Law. A small tupperware box with a few beads, some ear wires, headpins and a pair of pliers has now turned into a major part of my life and my living space! I adore working with copper for it's warm earthy tones and malleability and have recently started working with silver.

I am an earth lover, nature lover and dreamer. The majority of my work is inspired by nature and the escapism it creates for me. I love organic shapes and free flowing lines. Fantasy, myth and folklore also inspire my work and I particularly love tribal and ethnic designs.

My passion is to create unique one off pieces of jewellery that reflect my work as an artist as well. I believe jewellery can be sculptural forms and many of my pieces are bold and dramatic. As I work to no preplanned pattern or idea all my pieces evolve through 'play' and take their shape naturally and freely thus each piece is truly unique.

I worked solely with recycled copper using old electrical cables for a while but found sourcing and stripping very long lengths of wire harder and harder. I still use some recycled elements in my pieces and always love to re-use and upcycle bits and pieces I have made in previous years.

I have been passionate about wire work jewellery for two years now. I love to create unique exclusive pieces of jewellery from copper, copper wires and gemstones. My work takes me on a creative journey, inspired mainly by nature but my imagination is also captured by magical kingdoms, myths and legends. The pieces I make are often whimsical, free-spirited in style and one of a kind. I could not reproduce them exactly as I keep no written record of the processes involved. The pieces I make evolve freely and from my creativity at the time. I believe that jewellery should be beautiful but unique too. Reflecting the interesting individuals we all are.
