Once upon a time in a seaside town in England . . .

. . . well back in 2010 actually, Wit & Whimsy started life when one of the partners, Cate, discovered a hitherto unknown talent for creating handcrafted greetings cards after participating in a card making workshop. She co-opted a close friend, Judith, and Wit & Whimsy was born.

Shortly after Wit & Whimsy started, we began to design and create unique themed gift boxes to complement the greetings cards side of the business after noticing that there was a gap in the market for whimsical gift boxes with real personality which could be kept and used as jewellery or trinket boxes after the special event was over.

We added a bespoke/custom design service after several customers asked us to design one off cards to celebrate specific occasions. We can create a unique greetings card, gift box or charm bracelet to your specifications (providing we are able to source appropriate materials). In 2015 we added a range of charm bracelets after receiving a custom order that brought together a greetings card, a themed gift box and a desire for a unique personalised piece of jewellery.

In 2016 we started taking custom orders for a range of handcrafted wedding stationery to make the special day even more special.

Thank you for shopping with Wit & Whimsy, we appreciate your business and hope you will be delighted with your purchase.

Wit & Whimsy is a small UK business handcrafting greetings cards, unique 3D themed gift/trinket boxes and themed costume jewellery. All of our products are made from high quality new materials which are ethically sourced wherever possible, recycled and vintage materials.

Messages are checked regularly between 08:00 and 20:00 GMT (UK time) Monday to Friday and you will receive a response within 3 - 4 hours on average during this time frame though occasionally due to unforeseen circumstances it may take slightly longer to get back to you than this. Messages received outside this time frame will be answered by 10:00 GMT the next day.

But please contact me if you have any problems with your order.
We want you to be completely satisfied with anything you purchase here, and to have a fun and easy shopping experience but occasionally things do go wrong. To this end, we offer a full refund policy (minus shipping costs) if the item proves faulty or was damaged during transit. Please return the item with the original packaging within 3 working days of receipt. Refunds are made once item has been received.

Return postage for all refunds is paid for by the buyer.

Please let us know if there is a problem within 24 hours of receiving the item. If the item arrives damaged please send us photographs of the damaged item and packaging within 24 hours of receipt
Payment
We accept paypal, etsy gift cards and direct checkout payments through Etsy. For all bespoke/custom orders we require payment in advance once the design/order details have been agreed and you have told us you wish to proceed with the order.
Shipping
UPDATES:
14/12/2016: Due to some recent customers not ensuring that their Etsy mailing address is up to date before placing their order, items have been returned to us as undeliverable/gone away. If this happens to your order, you will be required to cover the costs of reposting the item to you. To avoid this please ensure that Etsy has your current address on file BEFORE you place your order.

COMBINING POSTAGE
Unfortunately Etsy's shipping calculation software is rather inflexible and if you want to order more than one item, please contact us to make your order a custom order so we can more accurately quote shipping costs for your order. Please let us know where in the world you are located when you message us as this affects shipping costs.

DISPATCH OF ORDERS
Stock and non customised items are dispatched within 1 - 2 business days of order placed and payment clearing. Unfortunately Etsy's payment systems do sometime take longer than normal to clear payments and this can mean that your order is not dispatched until the 2nd business day.

If you need your purchase quicker than the normal 1 - 2 business days turnaround time, please email us to let us know when you place your order and we'll do our best to accommodate this providing payment has cleared successfully.

If you need your order by a specific date, you will need to pay for a premium postal service as the services we use do not provide a guaranteed delivery date. Please email us prior to placing your order and we will be able to give you the cost of the premium shipping service which meets your requirements.

Custom orders take longer to dispatch as we have to design and make each item from scratch and we may have to source special items from suppliers. Please enquire about shipping requirements when you place your order.

PACKAGING
We use recycled packaging wherever possible to minimize our environmental footprint as much as we can.

DELIVERY
UK DELIVERY : All items are delivered to UK addresses by Royal Mail first class signed for service to ensure they arrive. Please therefore ensure that you provide a shipping address where there will be someone available to sign for the package. First class signed for mail to the UK will usually arrive within 1-5 business days. You will receive an email when your order has shipped. Please track the progress of your package on Royal Mail's website so you are aware if a delivery attempt has been made and can arrange to collect it or have it delivered at your convenience as delivery cards are not always left.

We do offer a priority delivery service for UK customers, who need their order by a guaranteed date, which is sent by Royal Mail's Special Delivery service. You can select the priority shipping option at checkout.

INTERNATIONAL DELIVERY: Overseas orders are sent by Royal Mail international airmail tracked and/or signed for services (varies from country to country as whether it is tracked and signed for, or just signed for or just tracked) to ensure safe delivery. Please allow 4-6 weeks for international deliveries (this takes into consideration holidays and weekends). Please note that these are just guidelines and shipping can be delayed due to delays in customs. Buyer is responsible for paying any and all international custom fees, taxes, VAT and any other fees. You will receive an email when your order has shipped. Please track the progress of your package on Royal Mail's website so you are aware if a delivery attempt has been made and can arrange to collect it or have it delivered at your convenience as delivery cards are not always left.

LOST/STOLEN ITEMS
We cannot take responsibility for lost or stolen packages as we send everything by a tracked and/or signed for service to minimize this happening. However, occasionally Royal Mail and other countries postal services do lose items and if there is no record of them being delivered within normal time frames we can make a claim for loss and reimburse you. Unfortunately a claim for loss of UK mail sent first class, cannot be made unless 15 working days or more have passed since the item was due to be delivered and at least 20 working days (for items posted to Europe) or 25 working days (for items to the rest of the world) so we are unable to process any claims for lost or stolen items until after these time frames.

Please note that all of our products contain small parts that may, if removed from the item in question, be considered choking hazards. Please do not give any of our products to small children to play with so that any such dangers are avoided.

Additionally the glue used in some of our jewellery is silicone based and not waterproof so you should avoid getting these products wet.

Gift Messages: Your personalised message will be typed on to a piece of white paper and attached as an insert to an A6 white card with a simple decoration on the front e.g. hearts, flower etc. These are randomly selected from stock and we are unable to provide a customised design for these as they are supplied free of charge.

Data Retention
We retain your personal information only for as long as necessary to provide you with our services and as described in our Privacy Policy. We generally keep your personal information for the following 7 years as required by Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs (HMRC).

Transfers of Personal Information Outside the EU
We may store and process your information through third-party hosting services in the US and other jurisdictions.
