About

"To become more conscious is the greatest gift anyone can give to the world; moreover, in a ripple effect, the gift comes back to its source."- David R. Hawkins

My mother was a dressmaker, so I would say that SEWING is in my blood.
UPCYCLING is my way of life.
15 years swooshed by as I worked for small, independent couture houses in London. I honed my craft by dressing politician's wives, celebrities, and making made to measure ladies' suits, ball gowns and dresses.

IDEA

When my son was little, he refused to wear any hats or hoods. I was desperate. As he loved the character 'Noddy', I thought of making him a jacket with a Noddy hood.

SUCCESS!!!

He absolutely loved it and so did the mothers of his little friends.
He happily wore the hood and I happily started completing orders.

I transferred my love for couture into creating high quality, comfortable and unique children's wear.

Durability and quality is my priority because I want each garment to be passed from generation to generation. To be SUSTAINABLE.

THE PROCESS:

I normally have a few projects on the go, each one unique in terms of garment, fabric and design.

I source most of my fabrics from my local 'Simply Fabrics' shop in Brixton that buys DEAD STOCK (also called: New Old Stock), meaning fabrics that have never been sold, or are no longer useful to other companies/factories for reasons such as:

- overstock of material;
- no longer compatible with company's designs;
- have slight imperfections (which are rejected by large companies, but are perfect for me because I create small one of a kind garments and can cut around);
- end of roll fabrics.

UPCYCLING QUALITY SECOND HAND GARMENTS

This is the fun, interesting and time consuming part of the process. I source quality garments from charity shops, car boot sales and friends.
Each garment is created solely by me, and I make sure that all garments undergo an intense, yet environmentally friendly, washing and sterilisation process.
CASHMERE in particular requires extra attention, from resting in my freezer for three days to careful combing with a special cashmere comb.
I then arrange my patterns to work out how to create required garment in the most efficient way.

Hence the terms: SLOW FASHION, ZERO WASTE FASHION and ZERO WASTE CUTTING.

I save even the smallest scraps of leftover fabrics and give them to local schools for craft projects.

HATE WASTE!

THINK AND SHOP OUTSIDE THE BOX!

Thank you for taking your time to read this :-)
