Hello!

My name is Ringo Yu, the mastermind and the only one behind my label Yu Square. I was born in Taipei, Taiwan, a small island in East Asia that people may not ever hear about. Since I was 20 I had lived in London for 6 years and had my education complete in Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, specialising in textile design, that was where I found the interest of my life- KNITTING.

2 years after graduation, with 2 years experiences in high-fashion industry which I did not really enjoy in, an idea came up to my mind that"'why don't I start doing something for myself and for what I'm really passionate about?" And then there comes the establishment of Yu Square in the beginning of 2013.

With an old Brother manual knitting machine and an hand-operated linker, I started to design clothing, realise them to knitted pieces, and sell them on Etsy. Etsy is truly the start point of my business, my works are gradually viewed by more and more people that bring me a lot of opportunities, not only selling to customers around the world but also wholesale requirements and market event invitations.

In the end of 2013 due to expiration of visa, I had to move back to Taiwan and try to adapt a sort-of-new environment and culture, which pushed me to review how my business worked. After careful consideration, I realised the necessity to work with manufacturers to reduce the workload in order to have more time to develop new designs, I began to partner with two manufacturers to produce knitwear and socks, but keep making beanies by myself as I don't wish to forget the joy of knitting itself.

My inspiration are usually very personal, what I like, what I saw, each collection has a specific theme. With the background in printed textiles, I have sharp eyes for colours and has a particular love of creating and mixing graphic patterns with colours. As knitting is often considered as grandma's hobby and most of people would think about cable jumpers, what I've been trying to do is to give knitwear a fun label. My only goal is to create pieces that can make people happy, if you look at my works and have a smile on your face, that means everything to me :)

All beanies and garments entitled 'handmade' are made by myself with my domestic knitting machine/knitting needles. The rest of knitwear and socks are designed by me and produced by local manufacturers. which quality is as good as my handmade works.

The following items can't be returned or exchanged
Because of the nature of these items, unless they arrive damaged or defective, I can't accept returns for:
  • Custom or personalized orders
  • Intimate items (for health/hygiene reasons)
  • Items on sale
Returns and exchange details
If you do not like the item (e.g. doesn't fit/don't like the colours), a return or exchange may be arranged but the return shipping cost will be on buyer's side, and the original shipping cost will not be refunded unless the items arrive in defected or damaged condition.

Please drop me a message regarding sizing and any other questions before placing an order to avoid these unnecessary costs.

Only PayPal (which accepts all major credit cards) is accepted.

For ready-to-ship items, including socks and most of knitwear:
Items will be shipped within 2 business days after payment confirmation.

For handmade items, including beanies and hand-made knitwear:
It usually takes 4-7 business days to complete a beanie and 2-3 weeks to complete a sweater. Items will start being made after payment confirmation and be shipped within 2 business days after production.

*If your item is urgently needed please contact me first, I'll check with my schedule and see if I can put your order on the priority list.
Shipping
All orders will be sent via Chunghwa Post's registered airmail service, it's trackable for most countries except for US, Canada, Australia, Netherlands, Italy, Russia, Denmark, South Africa, United Kingdom and Korea at the moment.

If you are based in one of the countries mentioned above and would like to use a trackable service instead, please drop me a message for an updated shipping quote of air parcel service.
