It's our quirks and imperfections who make us who we are

I graduated with an interior architecture and design degree in 2005 and continue to do it as my day job, specialising in retail design. I'm originally from a small village in Yorkshire, and after several stops in London moved back in 2012 with my husband, to start a family.

The idea of setting up a business around my day job as Accidental Vix came about when I broke my hip and shattered my femur in my mid-twenties (one of several broken bones) and had plenty of time to fill many a sketchbook with ideas, doodles and moments of insanity! I love my job but it’s not always as creative as it sounds, and involves much more project management and building sites than most realise so I decided to keep up my creative levels by filling my evenings and weekends with sketches and getting my thoughts onto paper without a budget or client being involved to start with.

In Nov 2011 I had yet more major surgery to remove the existing metal and replace it with some more, which has only spurred me on to do more creative challenges to fill my long days at home in the time off work and to distract from the pain. Variety is the spice of life, so as well as continuing with my illustration, art and general creativity I am branched out into creating children and baby gifts including clothes, accessories and booties. Now that I have my own children, they are often my test models and my son will now only wear 'mummy made' clothes out of fabric he has chosen, which is great as I can make them to fit, they last longer and it feeds my fabric addiction!

My motivation for sewing the clothes I do is from the lack of choice there seemed to be when looking for baby and children's clothes, especially for babies, that wasn't typically pink and girlie or blue and boyish. I quite often dress my daughter in skirts or dresses with cars or diggers on, I don't see why can't girls wear bold and practical clothing,

I recently re-launched my shop in August 2018, and one of my main aims is to be as planet friendly as possible, so wherever possible my fabrics are organic, which not only ensures a conscious decision to do as little damage as possible to the planet, but also ensure the well being of the people involved in the production of the fabric, and of course that no toxic dyes are used, therefore making it safe for children. I have removed plastic packaging from my postage and all items come wrapped in tissue paper, ready to gift.

So, enjoy browsing through my shop and hopefully we can bring smiles to lots of faces :)

The following items can't be returned or exchanged
Because of the nature of these items, unless they arrive damaged or defective, I can't accept returns for:
  • Custom or personalised orders
  • Perishable products (like food or flowers)
  • Digital downloads
  • Intimate items (for health/hygiene reasons)
Returns and exchange details
Hopefully you won't be disappointed but all items are refundable if returned unopened/in their original state within 14 working days of receiving them. Please note that the buyer will be responsible for return postage if not faulty. You will be credited with a refund once I have received and checked the condition. However, personalised items cannot be refunded unless faulty. If there are any issues with your purchase please do not hesitate to contact me so I can offer you a solution.

I always obtain "proof of posting" so please contact me if you think your parcel has been mislaid. I have to wait 25 days after the 'due delivery date' before I can report it so any international items lost in the post cannot be refunded until 6 weeks after posting, and UK orders 3 weeks after posting.

Please note that all orders are carefully packaged, if however they are damaged please let me know within 24 hours of receiving them.
I will accept PayPal payment , and once I have receipt of this your order will be shipped within 2 working days unless custom orders or otherwise specified. You do not need a paypal account to pay through them, but it can make the process quicker.

I accept instant bank transfers and once I can see the payment in my bank account your order will be shipped within 2 working days unless custom orders or otherwise specified.

All items are shipped first class post within 2-3 working days of receipt of payment unless customised/bespoke or otherwise stated, and are estimated to arrive within 2 working days of posting, although hopefully within 1 working day. Any delivery times for bespoke items will be discussed with you before you order but I aim to make and ship within 5-10 working days dependent on design and workload.

If you would like special delivery please just let me know, and this can be done at an additional cost.

Please note that depending on who is serving at the post office depends on whether some packages get through as large letter or small packet so I charge the higher rate in my Etsy shop but if I am charged the lower rate at the post office I will refund you the difference. This is the only way I can cover my postage costs and be fair.

All items are shipped airmail within 2-3 working days of receipt of payment unless customised/bespoke. Estimated delivery is 3-14 working days but you also need to allow extra for security checks and delays at airports, most things I have sent have been with the customer within that time frame but it can take up to 28 days.

Import duties, taxes and charges on international items are not included in P&P charges and are the responsibility of the buyer. Please check with your country's customs office about these additional charges before purchasing

Please order early to avoid disappointment, and contact me before buying if you have a specific deadline.

If you want items sent by recorded/special/airsure delivery, I am happy to do this but it is not included in the shipping prices quoted, and will incur an additional cost.

Additional policies and FAQs
All feedback is welcome, whether that be a review or simply a private message, and I love to hear the stories behind why customers have chosen my handmade products. Etsy have recently changed their feedback system to a review system based on a star rating. I aim to provide a high quality service, and as much as I hope you won't be disappointed with your experience please be gentle as once you write your review it will be made public. Please can I ask that you let me know if you don't think the service and quality has been 5 star before leaving a review so I can address and strive to rectify your concerns, as subtracting even one star will eventually affect my 100% feedback score which I have worked hard to maintain since my Etsy shop opened.

I am more than happy to make customised and personalised items, and these are often my favourites, so please don't hesitate to contact me. Most of the items in my shop can be made in a variety of fabrics, please ask if you would like to see alternatives or if you have a particular colour/pattern in mind.

Most cards and illustrations can have personalised text, be tweaked in colour/design or can be designed from scratch if you have someone or something in mind. A4 cards are also available, perfect for work cards or from a group, with plenty of space for colleagues to write in.
