About

Little bit about my artistic side of life

Hi and welcome to Artistic Side of Life. I'm Maya, welcome to my world, my passion! I live under the clouds and sunshine in London, UK. It's a wonderful place to create my surreal art.

I graduated in 2012 at the The Art Academy where I was lucky enough to study Visual Arts specializing in painting.

Having this foundation has been fundamental in the art that I produce today. I cannot imagine my life without art, it is my true first love.

My surreal collages are a fusion of the possible and impossible. Inspiration can appear to me from anywhere, in a flash and sometimes unexpectedly. People, books, music and life in general all help to inspire me. One of my favorite artists is Rene Magritte, a Belgian surrealist artist. His surreal images are always thought provoking. In my work there is always symbolism to express emotions or tell a story. By using vintage imagery in my art I show how times may have changed but our emotions have not. People are still experiencing the same feelings today as they were 50 years ago or more. This fascinates me.

The entire process of creating is one that has been with me since watching my father create designs and seeing them brought to life. Magic was happening right there in front of my eyes. Unlike my father, I like to take things from separate realities and create my own reality. I've learned many valuable lessons about life and myself but the most important one is that I learned that nothing is impossible.

My aim with my surreal art is that you, the viewer, can make a connection on an emotional and personal level. My art can celebrate special moments or feelings that you've experienced or simply make you smile. If you can make a connection, then I'm happy to have reached you through my art.

I adore working with my customers to create images that have meaning and are unique to them. I enjoy the involvement on a personal level. I love nothing better than when a customer sends me a picture of their framed prints and tell me how much they love them. If you have any ideas of your own or wish me to translate a feeling or event into a surreal collage, please don't hesitate to send me a message. I would love to hear from you.

Love,

Maya

Frequently asked questions

Care instructions

Avoid south facing light and use ultraviolet (UV) filtering glass for framing. Try not to hang prints directly against the interior of the outside wall of a building: the comparatively low temperature can cause condensation and mould growth inside a frame. Conversely, a radiator or spotlight dries the air out, and concentrates dirt by convection currents.
When handling works of art, you should touch the paper as little as possible and keep your fingers away from the image.
