Great calendar! It bends a little bit since the paper is so large and the holder is so small though.

About

Crafting Heirloom Artwork

Since I can remember I have been painting with watercolor. Well. if you consider those old "coloring books" with the pigment dried pages that burst to life when you brush on the water. I would spend what seemed like hours shading and contouring with my little synthetic brush.
Now, after trying out graphic design and dabbling in a few other careers, I am painting full time in my lovely home out in the country.
My inspiration comes from my extensive gardens and the nature that surrounds. Never have I come home from a trip without bringing a little something back (or taking a dozen photos) to paint. In my humble opinion Oregon is the most amazing and beautiful state so there is no excuse to run out of ideas!
You may have noticed that I have two kinds of paintings; Whimsical and serious. The whimsy ones are easy to spot, like Hagrids Lawn with a crow perched upon a brilliant orange pile of pumpkins to a singular pear with a lopsided stance.
The "serious" work is inspired by the old Arts and Crafts Motifs. I am in love with this era and with my husband have restored and built several authentic craftsman homes. The repetitive designs with the romantic lines call to me and you see this in prints like my Coral and Poppies.
To add to the art I create I also build custom quarter sawn oak frames. It has been a wonderful experience, and growing up with a woodworking father and married to a carpenter husband, it has been a very natural one. All of my frames are created from locally sourced trees that it just so happens, have fallen during storms. My husband mills the tree and over several years we dry, sort, and grade it. When the wood is ready we again, grade, plain and cut it to the widths we will be using. From there it is just me, cutting glueing, nailing, sanding and routing. Right down to cutting the glass and attaching the hard wear, it is all created here in the shop.
