For The Wild!

Hi, I'm Tara! A Bedfordshire based designer/maker who specialises in jewellery, accessories, stationery and surface pattern design. All of my work is handmade and designed in my home studio. I'm a bit of a natural history nerd with a love of all things vintage- I'm heavily influenced by the natural world, the wonderful flora and fauna that live in it and the natural history that goes with it.

Despite having studied Fashion and Art and Design at school, college and university, I have actually worked in the zoological industry for several years specializing in birds- everything from corvids, birds of prey to parrots. Birds play a huge role in Cake for Corvids (can you tell?) and the name itself is drawn from a box marked 'cake for corvids' which held left over cake crumbs to treat a pair of ravens and pied crows that I used to care for!

I keep my business as environmentally friendly as possible, which is why all of my paper stationery is printed on 100% recycled paper in the UK and even the cellophane bags I use are biodegradable.

Cake for Corvids had humble beginnings at the end of 2015; starting out as a hobby in the late evenings in front of the telly after a busy day on the zoo, to growing into a busy little full time business working from my home studio (I have a desk now and everything!) alongside my quaker parrot, Aqua.

I also offer a variety of freelance design services including logo design, website design and print and have worked with numerous businesses to help make their vision a reality. If you'd like to know more, please feel free to get in touch.

Frequently asked questions
Do you take custom orders?

Yes, I absoluteloy love custom orders- please send me a conversation with your ideas and we'll go from there!

Is your jewellery hypoallergenic?

All of my jewellery is either silver or gold plated (unless otherwise specified). If you need hypoallergenic chains/studs etc, please get in touch with me and we can make sure your piece is safe and comfortable for you :)

Do you offer wholesale prices?

Yep, I certainly do and I already stock a variety of shops! I offer great rates. The more you buy, the better the deal- just drop me an email so we can discuss what you're after.

Can I have this necklace as a brooch/earrings/etc?

Of course! Just get in touch and I will sort you a custom order :)

Do you offer gift wrapping?

Absolutely, for a small extra charge you can add our optional gift wrapping service during the checkout process. I will carefully box your order in a lovely gift box, wrap it with pretty string and seal it was an amazing crow wax stamp.

Help! I need my order ASAP!

Where possible I always do my upmost to get your orders out in a timely manner. I often get messages from customers who have spotted something they'd love to buy but they need it for a certain date.

Please contact me before placing your order to make sure I can actually make and post your item in time. I do charge a small rush order fee of £3 and if you have a very short turn around time, we may also have to charge you extra postage, particularly if you are an international customer and need it within 1 week.

Please note that during November-December I don't offer a rush service as my shop gets very busy!

Do you combine postage?

Absolutely! This is automatically combined at the checkout.

What if my order turns up broken?

In the unlikely case of your order breaking, all I ask is that you send me clear photos of the broken item as well as a photo of the packaging. Once I have this I will happily send you a replacement out or refund you- never fear!
