"The noblest art is that of making others happy.” - P.T. Barnum

I’ve been a creative for as long as I can remember. As a little girl and young person I had always loved drawing, telling stories, inventing plays, writing poetry, and making things. At the time I didn't know that it was actually possible to make a living out of creativity. In fact when, at age 8, I announced that I wanted to be an artist when I grew up, many well-meaning adults (not my parents though) started to tell me how unstable and difficult a career it was, how likely it was that I would end up penniless and they usually finished their speech with examples of artists – most of the time it was Van Gogh – who’d hardly sold any paintings during their lifetime. Those stories are very intimidating and discouraging when you are 8 years old. To be honest they are very intimidating and discouraging no matter how old you are. I didn’t want to be poor, nor did I want to drown in a spiral of sorrow and despair, go mad and die (not necessarily in that order). So I put my dreams of becoming an artist aside and carried on my creative activities only as a hobby for many years.

Fast forward fifteen years:
After completing a Master's degree in Business and Marketing I left France for the UK (this is a story for another time) and got myself a ‘serious’ office job. That job had two main advantages: 1) I wasn’t poor, and 2) I had a lot of time after work and at the weekends which I filled with drawing, knitting, making greeting cards for friends and family, and learning various creative skills. All this creative activity in my spare time eventually led to a collaboration nearly four years later that resulted in my first published children's picture book.

In the process of working on the book I realised that this was what I actually wanted to do in life and six months later I was leaving my office job to become a full-time illustrator. I opened my Etsy shop shortly after as a way to share my creations with the world.

Nowadays I work from my home studio (essentially, a desk in a corner of my living room at the moment) in Leicestershire where I juggle between illustration work for clients, my side job as a Brand Strategist and Brand Naming consultant, and creating new products for my Etsy shop.

Most of my illustrations are inspired by real life and a lot of my products can be traced back to a joke that I shared with my boyfriend, a note I wrote him or an illustration I drew for him. Each and every one of my designs is, as a result, very personal to me and I hope that they can bring you and your loved ones as much joy as they’ve brought us.

I will leave you with one of my favourite quotes, which is by P.T. Barnum. It goes like this: “The noblest art is that of making others happy.” This is very much what my work is all about.

Thanks for reading!
