From Commissioner to Collector

Welcome to my eclectic range of vintage and antique collectibles, items for the home, jewellery, clothing and accessories. I love the unusual and quirky and stock a curious range of English, European and International pieces!. Based in Devon I love to travel the country looking for vintage items for you and your home which I hope you will love and treasure forever!.

The range of things I stock will vary, depending on what new and wonderful finds I can bring to you! So please do keep visiting, there will always be something different and you will find things that you didn't even know you wanted but have to have! And if you are on the hunt for anything special, please do get in touch; as I also source items for individuals and interior designers and am happy to send you further details.

I have worked as a public art commissioner and advisor for over twenty years (hence the anagram Crabtulip!) and also in both making and promoting the visual arts. During this time I collected items for my own personal pleasure and over the years found that friends and colleagues wanted similar items or asked me to find things for them.

Because this demand has steadily grown I finally decided to start up my own, and turn my passion into a business! Crabtulip is full of vintage objects and items I have either owned or sourced from throughout the UK and Internationally. I hope you enjoy the objects I love to find and would value your feedback. Look out also for my ' Well loved Vintage' - pieces which have flaws but which can still give pleasure and don't deserve to be scrapped!

Welcome to my online vintage and antique boutique. I have been collecting vintage items for my own personal pleasure for many years and during that time, many friends and colleagues have wanted something similar or asked me to find specific things for them. Because this demand has steadily grown I have finally started up on my own and turned my passion into a business. I have a background in public art (hence the anagram Crabtulip!) and in both making and promoting the arts. I hope you enjoy the objects I love to collect and I would really value your feedback.

I strive to include as thorough and as accurate description as I can for all the vintage pieces, and all listings are made in good faith. But if you have any additional questions or require additional images, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. Unfortunately I cannot guarantee the appearance and colour accuracy of products featured on this website, as this will vary depending on the resolution and screen type of your computer.

If you are after a special piece - let me know as I offer a 'finding' service for various clients and am also a qualified personal shopper so I can help kit out you and your home! If you are interested in this additional service please let me know.

I can reserve items for buyers who are fully committed to purchasing an item and make a down payment of 40% to show they are committed to the purchase. If you decide you no longer want to purchase the item you will loose your down payment.

Because of the nature of these items, unless they arrive damaged or defective, I can't accept returns for:
  • Custom or personalised orders
  • Perishable products (like food or flowers)

REFUNDS:
I know that when buying things online it is hard to know whether it will be completely right for you. Therefore I offer a returns policy so that you may return any goods you find not to your liking. However, you must email me within seven working days of receipt to notify me that you wish to return your purchase. The cost of the item will be refunded but not the original postage cost. Returned items will be at your own expense. Please refer to later paragraph for further details.

The item must be returned to me in its original condition and its original packaging, otherwise a refund cannot be given. No refund will be issued if the item is returned damaged. Please also ensure safe transit by wrapping it in the original delivery box or one of equivalent quality.

When returning an item it is important that you tick the box on the Customs label on the envelope that this is a RETURN. Returned items don't need to pay Customs fees therefore if your item incurs a customs charge because you have not marked it as a return, I am not obliged to pay the customs fee. This means that the item will be held at the depot for 18 days before they return the item to you and you will then have to resend the item marked RETURN.

All return shipping/postal charges (e.g. postage, packing, insurance, customs, etc.) for the returned items will be at your cost and responsibility. Items must be sent tracked and properly insured. If they are not done so, and are subsequently lost or damaged in the post you will not be entitled to a refund. Upon receipt of the items in the same condition in which they left us, you will receive within 5 days a full refund of the item price and the postage you originally paid to receive the item.

DAMAGED ITEMS:
If the item arrives damaged please send me a photo before returning the item so that I can see the amount of damage to the item. If the damage is such that it cannot be repaired, then you will be refunded for the cost of the item but not the original postage costs, unless I am able to successfully claim them back from the original carrier.

DELAYED AND LOST POST:
If an item is delayed or lost in the post please let me know. I must ask you to wait a for the delivery depending on the delivery time estimated. If the item does not arrive within the estimated delivery and is considered to be lost by Royal Mail or the designated Courier I will refund you the cost of the item but not the postage or shipping costs unless I am able to make a successful claim for these, in which case you will be fully reimbursed.

PAYMENTS:
Payments are processed securely through PAYPAL or by using your Credit Card at the DIRECT CHECKOUT.

You do not need a Paypal account to pay for your items through Paypal. You can still pay through Paypal as a guest without an account. Just follow these steps:

Choose the PayPal Option during checkout. After you submit your order click the "Pay Now" button. On the right hand side of the next page you will see 2 options, the 2nd one is to pay using a Credit or Debit Card WITHOUT having to sign up for a PayPal account.

Or alternatively you could simply use the DIRECT CHECKOUT option to pay by credit card. It's quick and simple to use.

Please note: Payment must be made in full and have cleared before the item is shipped. If you are having any issues with PayPal or Direct Checkout please do not hesitate to contact me and I will assist you in anyway that I can.

COUPON CODES: I occasionally offer sales and discounts which are given with coupon codes. To receive the discount the buyer MUST enter the coupon code at checkout. I cannot refund the discount after the purchase is made. If you need any assistance with coupon codes, please message me BEFORE you submit your order.

DELIVERY AND SHIPPING:

Items will be dispatched on receipt of cleared funds and I aim to send items with 3-5 working days but often dispatch sooner. Items posted within the UK will be sent to be signed for. If you require special delivery or courier please let me know and I will confirm the additional charges. Internationally items will be shipped by the most economical means available but all will be sent tracked and to be signed for, where possible.

I am located in Exeter, Devon, UK - so if you would rather collect your item in person - please contact me.

All items are carefully packaged using recycled materials when possible. If you are buying as a gift, please let me know and we can discuss special wrapping and a personalised message!

Once the item arrives in your country, you may be liable to pay import duties/taxes/fees including VAT or other taxes, customs, import or other duties or handling or clearing fees by your Customs or Tax departments. These payments are your responsibility. We cannot accept the return, or refund, any item because you have failed or refused to pay these amounts.

I will always obtain proof of posting from the Post Office/Courier, and will use my best endeavours to assist in any claim against the Postal Services should any item be lost or damaged in transit. If you wish to purchase more than one item, I am happy to combine shipping where possible.

DESCRIPTION OF ITEMS:
Please note that Vintage and Antique items will always have some general wear and tear therefore they will not be in new condition. If I describe a Vintage or Antique piece as good condition it is with the general wear and tear. If there is any damage, missing pieces or scratches etc., I will state this in the condition of item. However I urge you to look at all the photos as this makes up for part of the description. I endeavour to ensure that the colours of items are described and photographed as accurately as possible but please note that different computers can alter the colour seen.
