Deer and Fawn

Announcement    Welcome to Deer and Fawn! Origami stars made from vintage sheet music and books, fabric crowns, wands, felt decorations and bunting made from children's books are the spécialité de la maison.

Everything is handmade by me, Lexie, in my tiny studio in the corner of my living room, in St Leonards-on-Sea, East Sussex. Deer and Fawn is all about sustainability- packaging up your orders is my favourite thing to do and I use recycled paper, cardboard boxes and eco-friendly products in as creative a way as possible.

Our Story
I’ve been folding paper since I was a little girl- when I was around 10 years old a Japanese lady visited my school and taught us how to make origami cranes and cameras- I loved it so much I asked for the Usborne Book of Origami for Christmas, which is where my love of paper folding began. Here's the link if you have little ones who want to learn the basics- http://bit.ly/UsborneBookofOrigami

I’ve always loved sewing- felt is my favourite fabric to work with and I began with very simple felt tree decorations, hand-sewn with buttons and ribbons when I was around 12 years old. Once I mastered blanket stitch, that was it… don’t you think blanket stitch is the best looking stitch around?! These days I’m into chain and back stitch lettering.

Deer and Fawn originally began as a joint venture with my Mum to sell vintage clothes and bits and bobs, but it quickly became a handmade affair, with just a hint of vintage. My super-cute logo represents me and my Mum, the Deer and the Fawn, which is exactly what I’m all about. Family and home. There is nowhere I’d rather be than at home with my loved ones and my dog, Polly.

Making pretty things out of paper and felt since forever 🌟

I’ve been folding paper since I was a little girl and I’ve never stopped! When I was around 10 years old a Japanese lady visited my school and taught us how to make origami cranes and cameras- I loved it so much I asked for the Usborne Beginners Origami book for Christmas, which is where my love of paper folding began.

I’ve always loved sewing- felt is my favourite fabric to work with and I began with very simple felt tree decorations, handsewn with buttons and ribbons when I was around 12 years old. Once I mastered blanket stitch, that was it… don’t you think blanket stitch is the best looking stitch around?! These days I’m into chain and back stitch lettering. My beautiful niece was the recipient of my first ever attempt at chain stitch- a fabric crown with Phoebe handsewn onto the front. Magical.
