5 out of 5 starsSuper cute, exactly as pictured, and the enamel on back side of a bunny I purchased 4 years ago has never chipped, flaked, or bubbled. Very happy to now enjoy an adorable "desk set!" Thank you!!

5 out of 5 starsThis Zebra is excellent; having a barcode for the stripes is such a cool idea. Thank you. Also as we suspected the shadow it casts is cool but we didn't anticipate the negative shadow (i.e. white stripes) caused by a reflection towards the light source. In our case we have it on a window sill and so get a normal shadow and a reflected shadow the latter being on the window frame.

Screen-printing glass enamels onto bright coloured sheet glass to make my jewellery pieces.

A view of the studio taken from standing on the cutting bench. The whole space 200 sq/ft, so every inch is used.

Each piece is polished by hand to ensure it stands up!

My light box table, laid out ready to print some glass jewellery. Each piece is hand printed and unique.
Combining modern innovation with traditional glass making techniques.
The making of my jewellery and sculpture ranges broadly uses two techniques; water-jet cutting to produce the intricate shapes cut from the thick glass and screen-printing which enables me to print coloured glass enamels onto the surface, which is then permanently fired in place in the kiln.
Water-jet cutting has actually been around for well over a century with the first material being cut by steam powered high pressure jets of water in Victorian times, even if it was only paper! The technology now uses dangerously high pressure to stream a concentrated jet of water through a nozzle where it is mixed with abrasive garnet grit and directed by the computer to cut the shapes.
The jewellery, however, is entirely cut by hand, from the tiny square earring studs to the larger pendants and brooches. These pieces are printed in strips and then further cut to size before firing in the kiln. Each component is then hand polished to remove any sharp edges and to prepare it for assembling onto the findings. Silver plated and sterling silver findings are bonded onto the pieces before final gift boxing.
The traditional use of kiln-fired enamels dates back to medieval times, with the technique only changing with the advent of better controlled electric and digitally monitored kilns. I use screen-printing over digital printing of enamels as it gives a thicker layer of colour on the surface of the glass which upon firing is water-resistant, non-fading and will not peel or scratch off.
