Aromachology is the study of the influence of scents on human behavior, and the relationship between feelings and emotions brought about by odors stimulating the olfactory pathways in the brain.
There are intriguing connections between scents and states of consciousness. My fascination for these processes combined with the study of systems of self-development and magic, led me to explore the impact of perfumes on our psyche: our imagination, our emotions and memories. When we are able to alter our psyche according to what we wish to evoke, we can create change in ourselves. I hope that you find this inner alchemy as intriguing and powerful as I do.

Blazing Torch launched in 2016, after completing my first series of Major Arcana oil blends as part of my Tarot explorations, while working in the veterinary surgical field. It's been like living two lives simultaneously since then, surgery during the day and alchemist/perfumer at night.
I create ritual perfumes with the intention of supporting you on your journey: your spiritual practice, magic, the daily exploration of life and yourself.
In the alchemical tradition, essential oils are the Sulfur or Soul of plants. When you anoint yourself with these oils, you are communing with the soul of certain botanicals. These substances can have a powerful impact on yourself, they are meant to trigger certain emotional, psychological and physical responses through the sense of smell, and might take you on an interesting journey.
Scent has been a key component of ritual and ceremonial magic since ancient times. Specific incense blends are offered to deities or planets during auspicious times, aromatic oils and herbal formulas are used for anointment and consecration. The correspondences between these materials and the forces we intend to work with are very particular, certain things work better than others, and we can track them hundreds to thousands of years back in history and magical grimoires.

My work is based on everything I have experienced, practiced and continue to learn about: the folk magic of my native homeland in the forests of Catalonia and the Pyrenees in Spain, ancient mystery traditions, classical grimoires, Western and Eastern esotericism, astrological magic, ethnobotany, mythology, etc.

Magic uses connections that are hidden to our sight. The magician manipulates these hidden connections in order to bring about action according to a specific purpose, and aiming towards a desired result. Some practitioners believe that the spirits can smell the perfumes that we offer to them. If you anoint yourself, your magical implements, candles, sigils, you and your message are "seen". If used during invocation, the spirits are drawn to the perfume.
"Everything is disposed to receive whatever work corresponds to it... the greatest strength is achieved when several strengths are joined together to overcome" (from The Picatrix). Substances have affinities, when they are combined in alignment with the proper celestial bodies at appropriate times, they are disposed to receive an influence, their resonance together with the magician's words carry the divine powers downwards into the chosen vessel. This is how I create my ritual perfumes, they are the vessels.

From a more mundane perspective, personal perfumes can also be used to make us feel good, empowered, connected, energized, or any other particular state that we are invoking in a specific situation. I see scent as a catalyzer, some essences are in alignment with certain qualities and they enhance their potency.

I craft ritual perfume oils and botanical skincare products with high quality, sustainable, ethically sourced, and cruelty-free ingredients.
The base of my blends is natural, in alignment with specific correspondences. My work is plant-based, using primarily pure essential oils, absolutes, CO2 extracts, resins, macerated oils, tinctures, as well as hydrosols and essences that I distill myself.
I prefer essential oils for alchemical reasons, they contain the Soul of plants.
I also use natural isolates, nature identical essences, and safe perfumer's aroma molecules (natural, semi-synthetic and synthetic) for the following reasons:
- Some natural materials are not sustainably produced;
- Some botanical species are endangered;
- In some cases synthetics are safer than naturals;
- I don't use ingredients involving animal cruelty or farming.
If I use materials like ambergris, I make sure it's a reputable source and the ambergris has been washed up by the sea and harvested at the beach. Never from killed whales. Same with Choya Nakh, those are wild harvested hollow shells, also found at the beach. No animal harm has been done for the purpose of obtaining these materials. This is essential to me and my work.
In the past decade of perfume-making and study, I have learnt that natural does not equal safe, and synthetic does not mean toxic. Materials are safe or unsafe, more or less processed, and containing more or less Soul. Everything comes from the earth and goes back to it.
For synthetics I look for safe, biodegradable materials. Thanks to biotechnology, aromatics are produced via fermentation, made with food waste and other natural byproducts that otherwise would be discarded. It's amazing that we can turn waste and other by-products into something beautiful, while minimizing trash. This new ways of creating aroma molecules based on recycling and reusing materials allow us to reduce the impact of over-harvesting botanicals to meet industry demands. I invest in companies that incorporate green chemistry practices because the future of perfumery has to be sustainable and we have the technology to make that happen.

An important part of my time is spent studying, testing new ingredients and finding suppliers that offer great quality, ethically sourced, sustainable materials. My experience as a co-founder of an import-export Fair Trade company connecting Spain and Nepal provided a solid foundation for sourcing oils, resins and botanicals that are ethically produced and traded.

I was born in Catalonia, Spain, of Andalusian ancestry. I've been living in Seattle for over a decade.
I've worked in veterinary surgery for the past seven years... and made potions at night, and on my days off.
I've studied Fine Arts, literature, history, philosophy, NGO and Fair Trade management, Ayurveda, Hellenistic astrology, regional dances from Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia, Turkey, Lebanon, Iran, India, Eastern Europe... and a few other subjects.
I'm an eternal student and practitioner of astrology, alchemy and theurgy, a self taught aromachologist, perfumer, modern mystic, magician, witch, dancer, traveller, dreamer, artist.

- All sales are final, no refunds. Because of the nature of my items, I don't accept returns, exchanges, or cancellations.
- I offer samples so you can try the oils before committing to a larger size. I do my best to describe the products with accuracy and I pack all orders with care to make sure they will arrive in perfect condition.
- Please read the item's descriptions before purchasing. I try to describe the products to the best of my ability, but it's impossible to match everybody's taste and expectations.

- All orders ship via USPS, no exceptions.

.: ESSENTIAL OILS - GENERAL SAFETY INFORMATION :.

- Do not take essential oil blends internally.
- Do not apply undiluted essential oils directly onto the skin. All my perfume oils are already diluted, but they are still very concentrated. You can always dilute them more by adding carrier oil.
- Do not apply essential oils in the eyes or eyelids, they could cause significant damage.
- Keep essential oil blends away from pets and children.
- In case of pregnancy, ask your doctor before using essential oils and only use recommended essential oils that are non-toxic and safe during pregnancy. Some of my blends contain essential oils of wormwood, oak moss, camphor, sage, hyssop, etc. and these should be avoided by pregnant women. Please ask me if you have any questions about specific ingredients in my blends and do your research for your own safety.
- Ask your doctor before using essential oils if you have cancer, liver damage, asthma or other serious medical conditions.
- Dermal reactions: some essential oils can be irritant and/or photosensitizing to the skin.
- Do an allergy skin patch test before using an essential oil that you haven't used before.
