5 out of 5 starsA beautiful find for my Egyptian Revival display shelf. The pattern is so lovely and like the glass basket, the plate is in mint antique condition. Both items were wrapped up as protectively as could be and surrounded by plenty of additional padding, and reached me safely and within the delivery estimate; seller communication was excellent as well!

A weirdly wonderful old stone wall...
Treasure-hunting Cornish granny...
I've always loved old things... I could never live in a new house, and always enjoyed the feeling that the rooms and the views had been enjoyed by someone else before me, that the place had stories to tell...
As a teenager, I drove my mother mad by decorating my bedroom with fishnet draped on the walls, festooned with 'found' treasures - I was encouraged by my grandfather, who contributed a gaudy plastic shrimp, an original Cornish miner's wax-hardened felt helmet, and many other oddities to the dust-gathering display...
When newly married, I decorated my front room like a Victorian parlour, with Staffordshire dogs on the mantelpiece and lacy curtains on the windows, even going so far as to find an ornate old harmonium to add 'flavour' to the decor (although I couldn't play a note!). And I loved the 'hunt'... So it seemed natural when I was looking for a way to supplement my meagre income a few years back, to turn to antiques and my junk shop and car boot finds.
Initially, it was art deco and art nouveau ceramics and glass that inspired me, but my interests have widened and I am now just as smitten by the mid-century items I remember from my childhood. And after over 15 years of selling in online auctions and becoming increasingly disillusioned, I at last discovered Etsy a few years ago - the ideal showcase for my quaint and curious tastes!
You will find something from every era in my shop, and there is much more I haven't had time to list yet - so do ask if there is something in particular you are looking for...

My husband, Chris. has encouraged me from the beginning, and now that I am less physically able, and he is officially 'retired', he's stepped in to handle all the postage and packing tasks, management of the stock and many other annoying jobs.

Payment
Payment can be made securely, quickly and easily via PayPal, or by most credit cards, at the checkout stage.
For UK buyers, a postal order or cheque is also an option, sent by post, made out to me: Sue Ellery-Hill. Purchases are sent once the payment has cleared.
Delivery
UK shipments are always sent by Registered Signed For post: parcels are normally sent by Hermes, and tracking numbers are provided.
PLEASE NOTE: Shipments abroad (i.e. anywhere other than the UK), are shipped by standard Air Mail: if you require Tracking or Signed For International shipping please convo me for an amended shipping price - it usually adds about £5 to the postage charge, but this will only provide compensation in the event of the parcel being lost, as there is no compensation cover available for damage during shipment to antiques, glass and ceramics sent abroad.
However, please don't be alarmed - I have been selling and shipping fragile and antique items abroad for over 15 years now, and always take immense trouble with the packing to ensure the items arrive at their destination safely!
Reducing, reusing and recycling is important to us, so recycled shipping supplies are used when available. This can include pre-used padded envelopes, bubble wrap, foam chips, boxes, etc; I also buy in new packaging materials, and always ensure I have wrapped your item as safely as possible.
Additional policies and FAQs
If the total in your shopping trolley, BEFORE postage costs and AFTER discount codes applied, totals £50 or more... you can choose to pay for your purchase in easy instalments.
20% of the purchase total is due at the time of check-out - this will be held as a non-refundable deposit. The balance will then be split into 4 easy payments, due every 2 weeks from the date of purchase. Once your invoice is paid in full, your purchase will be shipped to you.
A warning, though - if you default on the payments or decide against the items, the 20% deposit will be forfeit but any additional money paid will be refunded to you.
