Announcement   {{NEXT SHIPPING DATE IS JUNE 25TH}} Welcome to my shop of minis! Each piece is painted by my own hands with a tiny brush. I'm doing my best to paint every day while having a small human around my ankles, which makes it very difficult for me to manage custom orders. I make them as I'm able. Thank you for understanding.

Each piece is painted directly onto the metal - no paper prints glued in place. They are super individual, with tiny brushstrokes. Cross my heart and pickle my pie I don't use a magnifying glass, but I do drink Alice in Wonderland juice that shrinks me down to a miniature scale which helps a lot.

My family of three lives in a hobbity cottage in the Pacific Northwest. I used to live in NYC, where I mostly painted signs and murals, then on a sailboat making minis, and now back on earthy soil where I paint whatever pops out of these fingers.

Thank you so much for the incredible stories and support!
Love,
Khara

Inspired by all our time on the water recently. Someone said it looks like a whale swimming past the portholes of a boat under water. Isn't that a wonderful way to see it?
My first little lighthouse inspired by our inaugural sail. In spite of the bleariness of seasickness, you betcha I still got a good look at those wonderful structures.

About

Daydreams in a Nutshell

These things are important!
These daydreams.
So many voices tell us to straighten up, work hard, cut the fat and focus. Maybe it's true, but I stand for the little voice that tells you to take a nap, stare at the clouds and think about your favorite things.
I get to make mini escapes. The place you want to go instead of where you are. The capsule of fresh air that can be worn around your neck and taken wherever you go, or even given to someone who needs it more than you. Nostalgic landscapes, spirit animals, inside jokes: this is the good stuff that reminds you why you are you, and nobody else.

See my process and how it all works in this sweet little video: http://vimeo.com/109888849
(copy + paste in a new window and it'll pop right up)

For fifteen years I've been mucking about with paint, usually on great big walls and windows. Miniatures crept in so sneakily, an experimentation at most. My eyes were terrible; hands were shaky. Over time it came more naturally, and my eyes even got better; no kidding! Now it looks like Santa's workshop around here, with me curled over my little elf table, holding my breath for the perfect brushstroke. Everything is tiny and beautiful, and everyday I am amazed that I get to create so many miniature masterpieces to sustain myself and others.

Images above are stills from the mini movie created and directed by Sam Friedman. Portrait against blue background by Marilyn Glinka.
