Hello, I am Lauren, the face behind LCN handmade. I live in the glorious county of Yorkshire, where I hand-make my creations in my Sheffield-based studio.
LCN handmade is inspired by African travels and a love for hand-made and hand-printed textiles.
I design and make unisex adult & children's apparel and accessories that are hand-crafted, timeless and one-of-a-kind pieces of wearable art.
I use a combination of specialist textile techniques, which include patchwork, hand embroidery, batik, applique and hand-dyeing.
I am passionate about traditional ethnic textiles, in particular weave and batik from West Africa.
My creativity was given the opportunity to blossom while studying a BA hons in Fashion and Textiles and a Masters in Accessories Design at the Domus Academy. These days I make it my life's work to create and experiment daily. This experimentation brings new visions to my collections of garments, accessories and artwork, while I take inspiration from natural forms and traditional multi-cultural arts.
All items are designed and made in-house, with an emphasis on sustainability, up-cycling and fair-trade sourcing.

​I believe that it is important to know who is making your clothing and the process that goes into production. I produce items that are well made, able to stand the test of time, avoiding fast fashion trends and the dreaded landfill.
