Announcement   I have another shop on Etsy called 'LCCeramicsEarlyWork'
I have been a potter for over 25 years and my other shop is for some of my original work, (before orchid pots) when I was making all kind of things for pleasure and experimentation.
Also in 'LCCeramicsEarlyWork' are a few seconds from my current work. Not every firing goes to plan, and occasionally pots are nice and quite usable, but not nice enough for 'LCCeramics', so, because it is such a shame to put a hammer through the 'nearly's' I have listed them on my new shop, do please have a browse. I can combine p&p for items on either of my shops, please enquire for a quote.

About

Specialist pots for orchids and decorative wares for the home.

ORCHID POTS
My orchid pot designs stemmed from a request about 10 years ago from an orchid lover for a pot specifically for orchids. They have been expanded since then to make them not only a beautiful and original piece of ceramic in their own right, but a very useful planter to show off the stunning flowers of all types of orchids.

WHY BUY AN ORCHID POT FROM LCCERAMICS
Orchids grown and sold in plastic pots can become unsteady and top heavy. My pots have a good weight to them, reducing the chance of them being tipped over, injuring the plant and flowers, and avoiding that dirt on the floor.

The holes in the sides of the pots give the orchid room to grow through, around, and over the pot, as it would do naturally, the roots can then reach the light, air and moisture it needs. The insides of the pot are unglazed allowing the roots to cling on and stabilise itself in place in the pot.

The pots have higher feet than normal plant pots, which keep the bottom of the pots out of any stagnant water that can collect in the tray. The drip trays on the larger pots are also deeper, so the water that collects in the tray doesn't reach the bottom of the pot itself. Water can also be kept in the tray to help keep humidity up around the plant if necessary - water retaining pebbles can also be used in the tray.

Although my pots are made to plant orchids directly into, the larger pots can also fit a regular plastic pot inside, so several orchids can be swapped in and out of the pot as and when they flower.

The trays have either cork or felt on the base to protect any surfaces on which they are placed. Each piece is stamped with my mark LP.

We have found with the right care and attention, not only do orchids look stunning in one of my pots, they will grow and flower for years to come. A beautiful addition to any windowsill.

A QUICK NOTE OF POSTAGE COSTS
I can combine shipping costs for purchases from both my shops, please enquire for a quote.
Etsy automatically calculates shipping costs and these can occasionally work out excessive. If this is the case I will manually refund any overcharge.
Please note that, due to the fragility of ceramics, I only send to the UK mainland, for islands (including the Channel Islands) the postage costs will be more, please contact me if unsure.
