Hi! My name's April and I am a motion graphic designer by day and doodler by night.
The kids in our family were all nicknamed after primates (I was Apes!) and Mintaka is my favourite star in the sky - the third star of Orion's belt. Monkeymintaka was accidentally born in 2007, due to a password/login kerfuffle while creating a deviantArt account, but I thought it had a lovely ring to it, so the name has stuck!
After a brief love affair with digital art, I hung up my monkeymintaka hat to pursue a career in 3D animation, but found that long days at the computer left me feeling un-creative and out of touch with my imagination.
I started using my hands to draw, paint and doodle the evenings away a few years ago and have fallen in love with making. I feel like a child again - exploring and creating, getting messy and making art.
I can't wait to create and share new creatures, characters and stories with the world - and hope you'll enjoy my creations as well.
