Announcement    PRUDENCE AND THE CROW & CORONAVIRUS: Current status: All Systems Go

Dearest readers,

We thought you might have some questions about coronavirus and how it's effecting Prudence and the Crow.

As a purely online business, <b>we are OPEN and here to bring you your Prudence and the Crow boxes as usual.

The postal service is still in operation as normal and we are able to get all your parcels into our local parcel post box with as little human contact as possible.

Here at Prudence and the Crow HQ it's just us two - Prudence and Crow - working to source, design, pack and get your subscription boxes into the post along with the invaluable help of Prudence's mum who makes the book bags and the library card holders. We all work from home and everything we need is right here on site. <b>We have enough for everyone for several months to come.

We print in house where possible and all our supplies are delivered to our door before being carefully packed up along with your selected book.

We all have a vigorous hand washing policy (something we have always had due to the nature of our work) and for added safely we are also giving our books a careful and completely painless wipe down with antiseptic wipes (also something we were doing anyway).

For your safely and ours we are limiting our contact with the outside world as much as possible and have a huge stock of books ready and at hand to draw from to find your perfect literary match.

All our parcels are sent using Royal Mail. They state that Public Health England (PHE) has advised that <b>people receiving parcels are not at risk of contracting the coronavirus and that experience with other coronaviruses tells us these types of viruses don't survive long on objects, such as letters or parcels

For full details and the latest on Royal Mail and coronavirus please visit https://www.royalmail.com/coronavirus?iid=HP_M2_2_CORONAVIRUS

We hope to be able to continue to supply you with lovingly chosen vintage book bundles for the foreseeable.

Stay safe and keep reading!

PRUDENCE AND THE CROW & CORONAVIRUS: Current status: All Systems Go

Hello dear readers. We thought you might have some questions about coronavirus and how that might affect your Prudence and the Crow subscription, books, bits and bobs.

Following the Prime Minister's announcement on the 23rd March 2020, as a purely online business, we are still OPEN and here to bring you your Prudence and the Crow boxes as usual.

We have enough for everyone for several months to come.

For your safely and ours we have also made the decision to limit our contact with the outside world as much as possible over the coming weeks and have a huge stock of books ready and at hand to draw from to find your perfect literary match.

All our parcels are sent using Royal Mail. They state that Public Health England (PHE) has advised that people receiving parcels are not at risk of contracting the coronavirus and that experience with other coronaviruses tells us these types of viruses don't survive long on objects, such as letters or parcels.

For full details and the latest on Royal Mail and coronavirus please visit their website at royalmail.com.

We hope to be able to continue to supply you with lovingly chosen vintage book bundles to help you get through the difficult times that may lie ahead.

Stay strong and keep reading!

We are Prudence and the Crow, otherwise known as Abigail Shaw and Peggy Seymour, both from London. We love books. Hoorah!

We have been working together online for twenty years and believe wholeheartedly in the power of the Internets to enable the greatest geekery and most joyful post.

We wanted a bespoke subscription service that would send us an amazing vintage paperback book every month along with added fun and surprises. There wasn't one so we made one.

Our aim is to share our love of the content and aesthetic of previously loved paperback books with likeminded people from all over the world. We source hundreds of books each month for our subscribers, personally matching books to people based on their individual preferences. We have helped thousands of readers find their next perfect book and saved thousands of books from being ignored or needlessly discarded.

Starting on the 13th of every month we send out exciting book boxes to our wonderful subscribers containing a hand-selected vintage paperback book, a handmade book bag, a library card to catalogue their growing collection and added surprises!

Frequently asked questions
When can I sign up for your book subscription?

You can sign up at any time but in order to receive the current month's box you must sign up by midnight on the 13th of that month or your subscription will start the following month.

When can I expect my book subscription box?

We ship out boxes once a month like a magazine subscription. Boxes start to go into the post on the 13th of every month. Dispatch lasts for about a week (there are a lot of you!) and we use Royal Mail for both national and international parcels.

Once sent, UK subscribers can expect their box within 1-10 days; international customers within 10-28 days, depending on location. Please note: our boxes do NOT have tracking numbers in any case.

I want to sign up for a continuous subscription. How can I do that?

For continuous subscriptions and subscriptions lasting more than one month, please visit our website at prudenceandthecrow.com.

What kind of condition are your books in?

Our books are vintage. This means they are at least 20 years old (in most cases) and have been pre-loved. We won't send you anything that's completely falling apart but we do think old books are beautiful so please bear that in mind. Have a quick search around on social media and you'll soon get a feel for what we are offering.

Can I combine an order of a book subscription box and something else from your shop?

You can purchase them at the same time but the book subscription box will be sent separately at the time stated in the listing. The rest of your order will be dispatched within 5 working days.

Will my subscription box fit through my letterbox?

Yes in most cases! And even better, there's no need to sign for it! Simply go about your daily business, and return home to find your exciting post waiting happily for you on your doormat! Or, wherever your postbox leads to. The box doesn't automatically go for doormats unless gravity leads it that way.
