Swell Papel
I started Swell Papel out of the pure need to create. Before Swell Papel, I would still paint and make prints, along with other work in different media, but I never felt focused enough until I sat down with a big ole pot o' coffee, and came up with Swell Papel.
I grew up in the Mexico / U.S. border but I came to Michigan to study at the College for Creative Studies in Detroit. I received a B.F.A. in Crafts- Ceramics, specifically, but after a few years of dabbling in the handmade tile business, I decided that a 2D approach was more well-suited for me.
I'm now an artist, designer, maker, wife, and mommy living out of Franklin, MI and working from my home studio.
I hope that the prints I make convey a joyful feeling in the people that own and see them. I believe in my work and I love what I do!
