About

Paper for Calligraphers, Crafters Scrapbookers, Journallers & Artists...

Years ago there was a national calligraphy event being held locally. A paper seller pulled out, so I decided to buy some stock to fill the gap. That first paper order was quite conservative... 2 or 3 different whites, some ingres & a gorgeous japanese tanabata paper with sparkly gold squares. Then a calligraphy group placed a bulk order with Khadi... I hadn't heard of them back then, but bought a selection anyway. Oh boy! I was hooked. The texture... the colours.... *swoon*

Khadi is a UK supplier who works with communities in India to produce papers made by traditional methods in sustainable ways. This both preserves techniques & generates an income to many families. The papers are specifically designed for artists and are suitable for most media.

I used to sell at calligraphy meetings & at the classes I taught, eventually teaching workshops enabling calligraphers to try as many different papers as possible, but now I work from home & indulge my paper passion alone *sigh*. My under-bed space is full, and on top of the wardrobe is over-flowing. I hold on to the last sheets of discontinued lines unable to part with them, & frankly it's quite ridiculous and so I now offer a selection of my 'stash' to others who appreciate gorgeous papers from around the world.

Hi, my name's Suzi & I'm addicted to paper. There, I've said it. I have such a collection that I can't possibly use all of it & I certainly won't "get rid" of any unless it goes to someone who will also appreciate it & lovingly create with it ;-)

Shipping
**Please note: I do combine postage for more than 1 item & will always refund the overcharge. You are welcome to enquire first for an accurate price and/or personal custom listing if you wish. It's difficult to estimate all the postal permutations of various sizes & weight combinations.

SHIPPING TIMES
All items are shipped from the UK & will be posted within 3 days of receiving payment.
Postage within the UK is by First Class Mail for smaller packages and either Parcel post or courier for larger orders. A signature will usually be required for orders over £30 within the UK. Special delivery (next day) can be arranged... just get in touch & I'll advise you of the price.

Postage outside the UK is by standard Airmail. Tracking adds significantly to the cost, so I generally only add it to larger orders. Just ask if you would like me to adjust the listing for you.

UK- 1st class takes 1-2 days but can be longer. 2nd class, up to a week but can be longer.
EUROPE- most places receive mail within a week. Sometimes 2 weeks, but can be longer.
EVERYWHERE ELSE- 2 weeks is average, occasionally quicker. It's not unusual to take 3 weeks, sometimes longer. USA particularly can be subject to delays clearing customs.
Sorry I can't be more precise.

NON-UK CUSTOMERS
YOU are responsible for any and all duties and customs charges that may be incurred. It is YOUR responsibility to ensure that items purchased may be imported to your country. Postage will not be refunded for any items returned due to customs or import restrictions.

PACKAGING
Book pages will be packed flat, with cardboard to protect.
Smaller sheets of paper will be packed flat with cardboard to protect.
Full & Half sheets of paper will be rolled in a sturdy tube.
Some orders will need to be sent in separate parcels:
e.g. notebooks, a large quantity of small sheets & 320gsm paper won't go in a tube with full sheets & large quantities of full/half sheets may need sending in more than one tube

SHIPPING UPGRADES
Expedited shipping can be arranged on request. A telephone number will be needed to arrange collection for International deliveries.

**The weight of various papers varies so much & postage goes up in 100g or 250g (.25-1 oz) increments depending on the weight, so it's very easy for me to make errors in estimating the shipping costs for combined orders. If you are ordering several items I will always refund any over-charges, or if you prefer, you can enquire first for an estimate, or I can prepare a custom listing with the correct cost.
Additional policies and FAQs
Please do not hesitate to contact me with any queries about any of my listings or for custom orders.

Frequently asked questions

When will my order arrive?

I ship from the UK:
UK- Most things go 1st class & take 1-2 days but can be longer.

Why is the shipping cost so high?

Paper is surprisingly heavy compared to the size. BUT, if you have ordered several items the cost may well be too high. Sometimes a lot higher! It's difficult to estimate all the postal permutations of various sizes & weight combinations.

I will always refund any over-charges, or if you prefer, you can enquire first for an estimate, or I can prepare a custom listing with the correct cost.

Do you combine shipping for more than 1 item?

Usually, yes. BUT, some things must be sent separately. e.g. notebooks or a large quantity of small sheets or 320gsm paper won't go in a tube with full or half sheets of paper. Large quantities of full/half sheets may need sending in more than one tube.

Can you make paper to a custom size?

Sorry, no. I don't make the paper myself and I only buy the sizes listed. Some packs are large sheets torn in half, then half again etc. and approximate measurements are given. I don't tear to custom sizes as I'm not the most accurate at measuring, but you can buy full sheets and tear to size for yourself if you wish.

How do I tear the paper & will I get a deckle edge?

I tear paper against a ruler. A torn edge won't be exactly the same as a deckle edge. Some people crease the paper then damp it along the crease, then gently pull the paper apart rather than tear it upwards along the ruler. That gives a more feathered look.

I will often tear all 4 edges so that they look the same, or maybe 2 opposite sides so I have 2 torn edges & 2 deckle edges. For some things a torn edge is similar enough for what I need. I suggest getting a few extra sheets to try & see what works best for you, or buy a small quantity first to see if it is going to work before buying a larger quantity.
