Announcement
Crowing Hen Farm specializes in handspun yarn for weavers.
I am now a Canadian Ashford Dealer and can special order Ashford supplies, tools, fibre, and parts. Please contact me for details. I can only ship Ashford products within Canada.
I started spinning yarn for knitting, but when I learned to weave, I immediately wanted to know what it would be like to weave with my handspun. Although excellent for socks, my singles are spun with the loom in mind. Care is taken to make a consistent and strong yarn that creates a delightful fabric. Woven in plain weave, the twist in the yarn creates a gorgeous bias that gives the cloth the texture of twill.
I love spinning orders over 1 kilo, so I'm offering wholesale prices for large, custom orders. Contact me for details.

5 out of 5 starsAwesome intro to flax! I absolutely love this little farm. Raven’s book is clear, descriptive, and adorable. I have yet to find a more accessible resource for those just beginning to process flax. I also ordered a bit of flax to try. The quality is superb. This was the motivation I needed to start a tiny plot myself. Can’t recommend this shop enough!

5 out of 5 starsI am very pleased with this informative book on flax. The whole book is full of details on growing, processing, spinning, and finishing the linen thread and fabric. After reading the author's encouraging section on growing flax, I just planted my first plot - fingers crossed for a good crop and lots of learning!

Raven
Owner, Spinster
An over-opinionated misanthropic author, Raven spins yarn, weaves cloth, collaborates with sheep, wrangles llamas, hugs alpacas, weeds flax, and conspires with cotton on the family farm off the left coast of Canada.

Are there any unexpected fees?
Shipping outside of Canada may incur additional costs at the discretion of the destination country’s import/customs department. These fees are calculated differently by each country and are the responsibility of the recipient. We recommend contacting your local customs office for additional information.
Do you dropship?
Yes.
But there is an additional drop shipping fee.
I would much rather sell wholesale.
Contact me for more details.
Are the colours I see what I'll get?
I do my best to photograph the colours accurately, but monitors may show colours differently.
Also, I'm working with natural materials, so there is frequently variation. I try to keep each order is from the same batch, but I recommend you order enough for the whole project.
How long until you ship my stuff?
I go to the post office twice a week (usually Tuesdays and Fridays). Unless it's a custom order that needs time to make, I'll pop your parcel in the mail on my next post office run.
