About

The Weaver's Daughter

Growing up in the remote Scottish islands of Shetland I was always surrounded by music, art, crafts, poetry, and of course tweed. My father has been the island's resident weaver for most of his life and I have very many fond memories of visiting him at the weaving shed as a child. The fibrous smell of the yarn, oily smells of the machinery, all very fantastic to a small child I'm sure you will agree.
The Shetland Islands are a very creative place and after my last visit home I decided it was time to step up to the mark and use my unique experiences to create some things of my own. The result is Tweed Snips'n'Bits, I hope you like it.

I am also a poet with numerous published poems under my metaphorical belt, check out facebook.com/maxinerosemunro for updates of lastest publications. ;)

My father is the last Shetland power loom weaver and that makes me the last weaver's daughter. He designs and weaves with 100% Pure Shetland Wool. I take off-cuts of his best stuff and make wonderful things for you.

Care instructions

Bright light will fade materials used so do not hang in direct sunlight.

For those buying apparel -
Gentle handwashing (fine weaves and items with leather fastenings should be treated with care). Do not wring dry. Do not use washing machine even on wool wash - all apparel has interfacing and linings that may not reshape the same as the tweed after a machine wash.
I would recommend gentle spot cleaning of stains, infrequent (if any) dry cleaning.
Very frequent washing/cleaning will result in tweed becoming fuzzy.
To prolong times between washes use a steam iron - place a cloth between iron and tweed and steam clean then air.
A good air on a line in the sunlight will also help to remove any stains.
