Hello! I’m Melissa I’m an illustrator and enjoy creating funny, cute, light hearted and whimsy illustrations which I turn into greetings cards, tea-towels and mugs. I have a personalised card range which I hand finish with handwritten names these make a beautiful keepsake for families.
I studied illustration at Bath Spa university and spent many years working as a buyer. I’m now a Mum of three and run my small illustration business Western Sketch around my 3 children.
I’m really passionate about supporting small ethical businesses. I love the campaign Just a Card who raise awareness for small business if you can support an independent even with a small purchase like a card it really does make a huge difference.

Can you post cards directly?
I am happy to post your greeting cards directly to your recipient at no additional cost just let me know the details and message when you make your purchase
Covid19 update
My Etsy shop is still open and I am still posting any orders that I can send via the post box. If you are currently self isolating and can’t get to a post box but would like me to send a card on your behalf I can happy to do this for you.
Custom and personalised orders
All of my personalised cards can be customised with any name, the images in my shop shows Mama and Papa but these names can be replaced making them suitable for Grandparents, teachers, Aunts and Uncles etc.
Can I change the name Papa Bear?
Yes you can change all the names on my personalised cards to any you would like as these are hand written on after printing
Can I have two adult bears ?
Unfortunately my Papa Bear card just comes with one adult bear and Cubs. I do have a wintery version which has two adult bears and Cubs and I also have a duck family as an alternative. I will look to adapt a more generic bear card with two adult bears and Cubs soon.
