Once fired in the kiln we have what is called a 'biscuit' product. We then expertly hand-paint each of our buttons.

We handcraft each of our buttons from fine china. Once created, we fire them in the kiln before hand-painting each one.

Once painted we cover in glaze and fire in the kiln once more. We then have beautiful shiny buttons ready for your makes
A family business using traditional pottery skills to create exquisitely crafted fine china buttons. All done by hand in our family home.
We are a small family business based in Stoke-on-Trent, the heart of the Potteries (UK). All our buttons are made from fine bone china at our home by my dad Robert, my mum Joyce, who hand-paints each button, and myself, their daughter Jocelyn.
My parents began their business back in 1980 making exquisitely detailed figurine birds. They left their jobs at Beswicks (a famous pottery firm best know for producing Beatrix Potter figures) where they had learned and honed the traditional skills of the potters.
The buttons were an idea of my dad’s, back in 1985 and were popular as soon as they were launched. But, of course, they eventually retired and their small factory in the garage of the family home ceased production in the late 90’s.
And that brings us to today. After living in London for more than ten years I left my job and decided to make the move back to Stoke-on-Trent to revive our family business and I thought the buttons were the perfect product to launch with.
I feel passionate about keeping traditional skills alive and in the throwaway culture of the world today I think it is becoming more and more important to produce and invest in items that can be used and treasured for many years.
While our buttons may look pretty and delicate they are actually very robust and can be used on all your lovely sewing projects, on your handmade knits and even to upcycle pre-loved or vintage items and they are fully machine washable.
Functional yet wonderfully decorative, our buttons can be treasured for years to come.

Care instructions
Our buttons are safe for the washing machine. However, they do need a little bit of care. We strongly advise turning your garment inside out to help protect the buttons (where using buttons as fastenings keep your garment buttoned). For extra protection place in a wash bag or pillow case.
What if my item is damaged in the post?
In the unlikely event that any of your items are damaged in transit you must inform us within 48 hours (2 days) of receiving your order. You can either return them to us for replacement (we will reimburse the postage) or take pictures of damaged items and we will replace them for you free of charge.
Should your return item be lost in the post we cannot be held responsible. Please ensure you use the correct postage, retain proof of postage and, if possible, send your item tracked.
You should also ensure any insurance that may be included through postage, like Special Delivery, is enough to cover the cost of the item.
