About

A Painter and Scroll Worker Meet

In the early 90's I walked into a shop that sold left-over things from local manufacturing companies. There I found some small paper cat cut-outs on chip board. I bought up bunches of them and started painting.
It was trial and error from there until I was introduced to the amazing scroll work of my friend Leatrice from New Hampshire over 20 years ago. Since that meeting, the menagerie has grown. Now in 2018 I will miss working with Leatrice, she has retired from cutting so I will be using a laser cutter to make my ornaments. I've never met anyone who could cut with such precision as Lee, and I am grateful to her for the years she brought her amazing skills to these ornaments.

By now thousands of people open up their Christmas ornament boxes and take out their keepsakes. It's an awesome thought!

I've been working on this collection of ornaments for over 20 years now, starting with small paper cats. So many breeds of dogs, cats, guinea pigs and rabbits later it has been a very fulfilling life's work thanks to the people who love their pets!

Thank you for shopping White Dog Artisans. This is a friendly shop. But then, pet people are friendly folks so that's my customer base as well. The closer to Christmas, the crazier it gets with painting and the longer the lead time to complete custom work. I like to hear about the pets and where these ornaments are going so feel free to drop me a line about that.
