I began my learning to sew and then quilt from my mother at 10 years old. After losing my mom to suicide I began to feel a stronger desire to learn more and more. I once asked my mom why she didn't sell quilts and she replied "I don't want to become tired of it and not like it anymore". My idea of quilting is not like that at all. Nevertheless, she is always in my thoughts as I progress in my business and learning new quilting techniques. Because of this I also support charities that help those who are at risk for suicide by donating quilts when there are fundraisers.
I recovered from Cancer surgery and the one thing that I missed was my sewing and quilting. I was unable to climb the stairs to my studio for quite a few months. I seriously worried about what would happen if I became so sick that I could not quilt or sew. As for now I am back to doing what I love and it relaxes me, prevents depression and takes my mind off of my health. I at times donate quilts to the fundraisers for Cancer studies.
