Frequently asked questions

Do you offer custom orders?

Yes, I do! To request a custom order you can either send me a message or click the orange "Request custom order" button under the shop sections. I can even create a piece based on your own original design. Feel free to send me a message to get started!

How do you add oils and perfumes to the essential oil pendants? Can I switch scents daily? And how do I remove oils from the pendant if I use one I don't like?

It's actually very simple! Just add 2-4 drops of your favorite oil or perfume to the pack of the pendant. Since the base of the pendant is natural lava, the oils will distribute through-out the pendant. The longevity of the scent will vary per oil, but on average, my pendants will diffuse scents for 7-14 days. If you would like to switch out your oils or don't like the scent you had on your pendant, simply fill a bowl with just enough water to almost cover the lava. Place the pendant in the water and allow the oils to disperse. The amount of time this process takes will depend on the oils used. Some gemstones, such as opal, may become damaged in oil and water, so please be careful to keep them dry. Once done, lay on a towel until dry.

What is the difference between the different grades of silver?

That's a great question! A lot of people don't know that there is a difference at all! Metals have different grades depending on their purity. Gold is the most commonly known (24k, 18k, etc), but silver is more commonly used in my shop. 99.9 fine silver is the highest grade of silver I offer. This purity gives you a high quality silver in jewelry that doesn't need strength, such as necklaces and earrings. A few early ring prototypes in my shop are made with this grade of silver and should only be worn as fashion jewelry. They are not designed for daily wear. 92.5 sterling silver is a mixture of silver and copper, making the metal stronger and less prone to breakage. Rings and bracelets are most often made with sterling for this durability.

What is "silver plating"?

Some of the wire work in my shop is made with plated wire, meaning that the wires are plated with a certain metal (for example silver or gold) but contain a stronger base metal core. This is important in wire jewelry, as the wires need to be strong enough and durable enough to work with and to last with wear. If you would like a higher quality silver wire in your jewelry, I offer sterling silver and gold filled wire as well, but please note that these options will cost an additional fee.

What is "Electroformed" jewelry?

I'm so glad you asked! One of my most recent hobbies has been creating electroformed jewelry, which is one of the coolest jewelry sciences I've had the pleasure of working with. It's quite scientific to explain in detail, so I'll do my best to simplify it and save us both a headache. Electroforming is, basically, the intricate process of controlling a deposit of copper onto a conductive surface using electricity and a bunch of long-titled chemicals. The majority of the copper jewelry in my shop was made with this unique technique, and every single piece will always be one of a kind due to this process.
