Hand Painted Floor Cloths - Walk on Art -

Tucson, Arizona

Announcement    ART for the FLOOR. Welcome to Bernsen Floor Cloths. I create unique, durable canvas floor cloths that stand up against floor traffic . Or hung on a wall. All of my floor cloths are mitered and hemmed for a finished look.

I take inspiration from many sources. Always Matisse, Sonya Delaunay,
The cubists, the New York painters of the 1950s and 60s, the colors of
stain glass windows, interesting clothing collections, art installations, or just from fabric
found in vintage clothing stores. In other words, wherever
there is style and color and energy and charm.

I use a variety of paints, chalk, metallic treatment, crayon, pen, pencil, magic marker, and other media to create these floor cloths. All of my canvas floor cloths are sealed with two coats of a water base poly-varnish. Each floorcloth is an original painting meant to walk on, or hang.

I do not use stencils. The floor paintings are created on canvas that
has not been stretched. I like the canvas to show its true self.
The final stiffness of the canvas is a result of the gesso and the paint and the polyurethane.

Canvas floor cloths are vacuum-safe, non-allergenic, durable, and they soften over the years.

Each canvas floor cloth is shipped with a non-skid pad, and if you plan to use it as a wall hanging, clips will be provided free of charge. I also
Include clearly written care instructions.

Check out my other Etsy shop for one-of-a-kind jewelry handcrafted with alternative materials, such as handpainted wood beads, rubber, and vintage buttons.

I have been creating canvas floor cloths since 1991. I call them "floor art" because they are a one-of-a-kind canvas painting that may be used on the floor. (Lots of people hang them as well.) Playing with color and pattern is what I love to do.
