At blue wombat bondi, we visited Taiwan early in 2020 and because of the single use plastic ban, carried around our own cutlery and boba straws when out and about. We've always been passionate about positively contributing to the natural environment and loved the concept of your own reusable products instead of consuming single use items that would quickly become waste. We returned to Bondi, Australia and designed our own! We now have a base in Bondi, NSW and Mooloolaba, QLD, and ship our adorable products worldwide!
Being founded in Bondi, needless to say, we love our oceans, the natural environment and the charming critters who inhabit them. We've committed to give back 10% of our profits to animal rescue and environmental organisations, supporting the rescue and rehabilitation of native Australian animals as well as marine life such as whale, dolphin, seal and dugong rescue.
We're also committed to working with artisans who support economic empowerment for women and rural farmers in developing regions. Our bamboo and coconut is sustainably sourced and handcrafted by local farmers from a small farming village in the Thanh Hoa province of Vietnam. Harvesting bamboo is empowering rural communities by providing local rice farmers diversity of income, whilst protecting and improving the natural environment.
Our organic cotton is responsibly sourced from a women-run community in the Himalayan region. For some women it is their first opportunity gaining financial independence, negotiating with their families for hours worked. As natural processes are used, this maintains a clean water supply meaning farmers are able to grow more than one crop which supplements their food and income.
