when i browse esty site i see amazzzing work. i always see these gorgeous portraits done of women... however, i have yet to find a site with a diverse group of work (meaning women of color).
i like to see "US" represented too. as we are not really represented in the media so much as being the star beauties...i would love to see more of that on etsy.
i posted two threads about looking for these types of portaits. i only got one reponse in two days. i was trying to figure out if that meant;
1. people dont like to answer things that have to do with race
2. there are not varieties of diversity on etsy
3. the people that read the thread just havent seen anything that im talking about
trying to figure it out...bc i would LOVE to purchase some art for my new home.
any takerS?

I paint women...in color. They are ambiguous and not meant to signify an individual woman, rather the "every" woman. Hair is the only thing that signifies any individual characteristic in my pieces, and that of course is changeable.
I don't know if you would be interested in abstract nudes though, but I thought I would put it out there.

clarifying...are you looking for art for your home which represents multi-ethnic cultures? are you speaking specifically of portraits?

Can I ask something, as a pasty white girl?
Would it be offensive for me to draw different ethnicities. My brother was adopted from Korea, and I have many friends of different races, so I've been planning too, but I know some people don't like it when white gals want to do that too.

#3 is applicable for me (but, I also missed those posts!) but I wish you luck in finding them (I'll keep an eye out as well!). I really hope it's not #1 or 2. It would be sweet to have some cool portraits of women of color. (Also your shop is wonderful!)

oh i posted them in promotions in critques... as "looking" for work.
thanks saggitarius. i actually looked at your site yesterday and your work is beautiful... however, i am looking for something that will represent me, with brown skin.
evengeline, yes i'd say multi-ethnic. but to be blunt... black women. :)
the most diversity ive seen has caucasian women with different color hair; like brunettes, blondes, redheads. that sorta thing.
