And I thought I'd seen dirty and delusional already..... this Ferraro woman takes the cake:

"(CNN) — A senior adviser to Barack Obama’s presidential campaign called on Hillary Clinton to “repudiate” a comment by one of her top fundraisers that Barack Obama would not be a major presidential contender if he were not black.

Former New York Rep. Geraldine Ferraro, the Democratic Party’s vice presidential nominee in 1984, told the (Torrance, California) Daily Breeze that "If Obama was a white man, he would not be in this position. And if he was a woman he would not be in this position. He happens to be very lucky to be who he is. And the country is caught up in the concept."

Ugh. That's some pretty appalling stuff.

Oh – the middle paragraph, which I cut out to get to the point, said:

“I think if Sen. Clinton is serious about putting an end to statements that have racial implications,” Susan Rice, an Obama foreign policy adviser, told MSNBC Tuesday, “…then she ought to repudiate this comment.”

And the entire story is here:

Geralidine Ferraro is the reason why a woman hasn't run for president since she threw herself into the race in the 80's and came out looking like a complete idiot. I don't think anything she says should even be quoted, as quotation to a certain degree gives validation. Shame on CNN for giving her an additional 5 minutes of relevance when she deserves absolutely none.

I'm a black woman and I totally agree. He wouldn't be in that position is he wasn't black. Its not a negative opinion...IMHO...its the truth.

Sagittarius, I was a kid in Australia in the '80s so I missed all that... I'm not surprised she came out looking like an idiot, though!

Bare with me here: I agree and disagree with that statement.

We've always had a caucasian male president. The country seems to be ready for a change and that change is coming at us in 2 different forms. A black male and a caucasian woman. They are both very capable people and while I don't think Obama's color is the reason for his success, I think the 'change' from the norm that he stands for is helping drive him and Hillary both.

But, I never would have stated it the way Ferraro did...that just seems rude and unintelligent coming from anyone.

I wish change didn't mean having to point out people's differences in a negative way...but apparently that's politics.

Agreed!

And she took the opportunity to whine that Hillary's being treated unfairly because she's a woman. She can't have it both ways...

That's just plain ignorance for her to say such things and usually why I don't give my viewpoints on politics too often. But in the way of the US history, this election is HUGE! No matter who wins, it could go down in history as being a great stride toward equal rights for all and that's what I admire about the situation. Regardless of who wins, it makes me proud to be an American that all of these candidates are able to face each other for such an important role in our country.

Isn't she the one whose son was busted in a cocaine thing at Middlebury College? I don't remember her being an idiot as much as she was dragged through the muck by the media for her family's behavior (husband and son)......

I may be wrong.
