why would someone heart your shop anonymously?

Users can set their favorites as private. Sometimes they just don't want to have their favorites viewable. Sometimes shop owners will send convos (potential spam) to those that they have hearted. I appreciate all hearts. :-)

Cute shop! Welcome to Etsy. You have quite a collection of hearts going there.

My favorites are set on anonymous, and it's because I have another shop where I have most of my hearts, and anything I want to come back to (to buy gifts and such) is hearted in this shop.

I didn't even know you could do that...

Maybe it's your competitor or someone who wants to copy your stuff :(

Hey, I have wondered that myself. Why?

You know, let me know who hearts me so I can heart you back!

Why not?

If someone was your competitor they could just bookmark your shop in their browser. There is no need to heart your shop anonymously.

Frankly I have too many hearts in my other shop and I can never find anything I'm looking for. If I heart you anonymously (from this shop), it's because I will 90% sure buy from you, so that's a very very good thing!

The competitor bent has been brought up before. Yes, people do exist that copy, that find "inspiration" from your items - but they are few and far between. Healthy competition isn't a bad thing, and not everyone is out to copy - especially not every anonymous heart.

A lot of people simply choose to be anonymous because they don't want the entire Etsy world to see what they like. Some people don't want their family or friends to see they have hearted an item that is a gift.

Just be happy you have someone who appreciates your work, for whatever the reason. I consider it a great compliment, anonymous or no, and I don't think anyone who hearts me anonymously is out to copy my work.

I do see what you're saying though, bella - I like to go through the shops of sellers who have hearted me, and sometimes I find really great stuff. Being anonymous would be the only drawback to this.
