I am buying, but I am not buying from the Gift Guide.

As a seller, I am extremely annoyed that the GG appears to be featuring the favorites of admin in at least many instances. I feel that the GG does not promote the majority of sellers on Etsy, nor even Etsy as a whole.
I am buying gifts on Etsy, but I have vowed not to buy from the GG. This is not because I blame the sellers in the GG, but because I would prefer to promote/aid the sales of others who were not chosen by admin.
Anyone else not buying from the GG?

I'm not sure if I am or not. Actually I don't plan on using it when I get ready to buy my gifts but since I'm not going to use it I don't know if their items are in there or not.
I think it may be a useful tool later, but I'm sure there are lots more items on etsy that aren't listed in there.

It's really not the fault of those featured that they ARE featured. :)
I don't think boycotting certain sellers is helpful.

I won't be buying from there either! I sell lots of baby and children's items and not one of mine are in there! Not fair! Someone looking for a baby gift will think that is all that is on Etsy.

I can use the search fuction well enough that I don't have to use the GG anyways.
Besides..there's such a small amount of sellers and items in the guide that we don't really get enough variety or choice in items.Just MHO.
It might be useful for first time Etsyiers (though I wonder if they'll think that's all there is and then ignore using other features or searches)

Considering that the girls ages 3-7 is way too broad, I won't be. So many of the items are too young for my 6 year old going on 20.
I have thought about starting a thread in promos with who I am shopping for and having people post links for items that they think are suitable.
The only thing that is stopping me is the fact that the promos area is a zoo to wade through and I don't want to be flamed for my own little personal boycott of the GG.

Not using the gift guides for your shopping is one thing, boycotting sellers because they just happen to be in them is quite another.

It isn't a boycott of sellers in the GG that I am interested in. I am just not going to go to the GG and buy items featured in it. That doesn't mean I won't buy from any of the sellers in it-----it isn't their fault. :)
