Hello dear sellers! The Storque is teaming up with Marketing for another series, not unlike the Handmade Wedding Series: this one will focus on kids, babies and new moms. Content will include Team & seller profiles, how-tos, shopping content, handmade lifestyle pieces and other ideas — all relating to pregnancy, babies, and young kids.

Surprised? Probably not, right?

I do think that this is a natural fit for Etsy to bring in new buyers who appreciate handmade goods. It’ll be a great opportunity for sellers to market their pieces for kids and parents. In part, I'm writing this now to give sellers a heads up that the series is coming.

While I know that some Etsians aren’t parents or aren’t going to be parents, pretty much all of us have friends and family with kids. If you don’t feel you fit under this umbrella, not to worry! We’re excited about doing more organized projects like this along different themes in the future (your suggestions for other major series are always welcome, just convo me! I'd like to keep this thread on topic).

We are still in the research and planning stages. So here are the parameters we’re thinking about:
- launch on July 14 and end on Aug 1. (We felt like Weddings was a bit too long so this will be shorter.)
- Themed frontpage Showcases.
- Potentially a co-op print ad opportunity (though this would obviously come out later).
- Potential contest with media partners.
- Outside ads on targeted websites and blogs.
- Frontpages tying into the series (though we’ll try not to be overwhelming with this!).
- Themed Etsy Finds emails.
- Special guest bloggers who will cross-post.
- Virtual Labs and video how-tos.

As I said, we’re just in the planning stages, so I want to hear your general impressions, but I also really want your expert advice, sellers!
- What magazines, blogs, and websites do you think are a good fit?
- Any notables or persons of interest who come to mind when thinking about Featured Buyers or people to interview on the Storque?
- Would you be interested in taking part in a contest and/or a coop ad?
- Help us pick a catchy title — we’re thinking Crafty Kids.
- Any suggestions for article topics...

Thank you so much for your constructive advice on making this a fun and useful series for buyers. Merci!

Ooh, this is exciting. I would definitely suggest Parents Magazine. It was all over the Dr's office when I was pregnant.

I think it's a great idea and a great article would be to highlight how people can do an online Etsy baby shower!

I actually had 2! One was from my street team (the Creative Glass Guild of Etsy) and they all surprised me with handmade Etsy gifts! The other was a special thread on Etsy for new moms and perfect strangers donated items to the baby shower!

I was so impressed and thankful!

I would also recommend some of my favorites since I have bought a lot of kid/baby stuff after having 2 kids in 3 years!

We did an group shower for one of our Earthpath members who just had a baby. We all sent handmade gifts from our Etsy shop... gifts especially for mom.

Wow! That's fantastic! Since I carry prints to decorate the nursery and kids' rooms, packs of baby related stationery and baby/child themed greetings I'd love to see more focus on it! It's always been a pretty big market to tap into and the other work I've seen on Etsy for babies and kids is outstanding.

I'd love to take part in a co-op ad, contests or any other promotions that will be available for sellers. I'm very excited to see what this series brings!

I have my second on the way as well, and have just today been searching Etsy for lots of goodies for the babes.

I have come across some awesome sellers.

I think Today's Parent Magazine would be a good and obvious fit.

I'm not keen on the contests as they are always open to U.S residents only and this is an international site.

I'd love to see children's dress up clothes featured as they promote self confidence through imaginary play

Ooo, dress up is a great idea.

I hear your concern about the international sellers and the contest. Perhaps we can look into getting a media partner that would host the contest.

cafe mom (www.cafemom.com) might be a good place to get the word out to parents. It's only online, and reaches a large number of folks.

Great idea!
