I love that petulance is being used to remind me of how to be professional.

Sellers who need to tell people how to do business crack me up.

You know what else peeves me? People blacklisting each other! I'd buy from Rasputin himself if I liked his product! Well, maybe that's a tiny over-statement...

I think Swoon was right on the money.

I think this really unhealthy culture of excessive gratitude has been cultivated on Etsy that does not exist in the wider market. It means inexperienced sellers feel the peer pressure to jump through hoops to satisfy their buyers, & that some buyers have unrealistic or unreasonable expectations.

Let's not forget that a sales transaction is an EXCHANGE. Not a favour, not a selfless, benevolent act on the part of the buyer, & sellers are not charity cases. It's a mutually beneficial exchange of goods for cash. Both parties should be satisfied with that.

I would much rather have a quality product, well packaged & shipped promptly, than a load of effusive thank yous, excessive packaging, freebies, etc.

Come to think of it, I don't think I've really received thank you convos as a buyer...except from sellers I've had a prior relationship with. I appreciate that they're busy & I'd rather they invest their time in shipping my item.

I personally dont care for asking a seller a valid question about something that I am really interested in buying, and they never answer my question.

**crumples to await public beating** lol

I don't include a handwritten note, either. Sorry. I include a packing slip, though. It takes me hours (yes, hours) to pack up and mail orders. If I added a handwritten note to each one, and email each person personally about their order, I would never have time to actually make the items (which are all made after the order is placed). Really...I tried, but I've really had to streamline my process in order to get work done.

I have it stated on my website that I regret that I am not able to email each person about their order unless I have a problem or question, but they are welcome to email me at any time, and I will absolutely get back to them. I don't think I should treat etsy customers any differently than my other customers. It's not fair to email customers on Etsy, but not on the other site who are just as important.

To tell you the truth, when I only had my Etsy shop, I emailed people all the time, throughout their order. I actually miss being able to connect with each person that ordered, and I can remember each one of those customers. I just can't do it anymore with the volume that I am doing now.

I have a bad pet peeve as well: I hate it when people do not say, "thank you" after you hold the door for them!!

Easy for you to say.

Having someone (especially someone young and/or female) hold a door for me makes me feel like a old codger, so I'm likely to act like one. :-)

My pet peeve is gherkins. I want to eat and enjoy them but their name discomfits me.

I tried responding to all of my buyers after every purchase once via conversation, but I kept getting muted as spam.

Is there another way this can be done?

magicjelly===I agree. I was going to say (but didn't for fear of the backlash) that it seems like some sellers are almost scared of the buyers--scared of offending them, scared of turning them off, scared of them not coming back.
