So the word from a Flickr user is that Flickr contacted her about removing her etsy treasuries. Apparently they are not allowed because they promote a commercial site. Also, this was brought about by a prominent etsy seller contacting Flickr about having certain things removed. Not sure what this will mean for the Etsy group that posts front page treasuries. Also not sure if they'll contact other users before deleting an account or not. Just know it's happening.

its a social networking site, not an advertising venue. although, i do believe they offer paid advertising

I believe it was more than that. It was how a treasury was being used in conjunction to some past issues here on etsy with how the front pages were being chosen.

Ultimately, the photos are all copyrighted so if a seller didn't like the way their photo was used in a Treasury, they would be well within their rights to ask for it to be removed whether from the Etsy Treasury section or from Flickr...

ONLY because they can't link back to it. According to etsy's TOS you can use anything from the etsy site as long as you provide a link back.
