Under "Shipping To" I, in error, clicked "Everywhere Else". A buyer from Europe purchased the item and of course my Quote doesn't even touch the cost of shipping to Europe! In my shop Announcement I do state that I will ship anywhere but to please convo me. Buyer might not have seen that statement.
I refunded her money and have written two apology letters, I do hope she can forgive me!
Anyway, BEWARE, make sure you don't hit the wrong choice.
Let's hope my day gets better...

ooh, yes, sometimes I see that in peoples shops and I think about convo'ing them to fix it, but then I think that's probably overstepping?

Yuppers..... learned that one long ago.... the hard way too. I ate the cost, then changed my fees. It's a pain.

I recently left shipping at $0 on an item.... and sure enough someone bought it :) Thank god it was a small amount.

you do have to honor that sale. when a customer buys a listing you are bound to what is stated in that listing

Sorry to hear about the mix up!
I would have shipped and ate the cost! Then checked all my
listings to make sure they were all correct.

That sucks, but it does happen. Be aware that if the buyer raises a stink, you will have to send the item at a loss, since you posted it. But hopefully she will want the item and re purchase at the right shipping price.
One way I have found to help in listing postage is to have prelisted shipping options for various sizes of things that go out, like ephemera, 10 ounce book, 1 pound book, 1 pound non-book. It saves lots of time!
Then all you have to do is click the item, and there is no worry in messing up your destinations.
Hope that helps!

I'm not sure that some of the jewelry artists have done any research on shipping to Europe. They have special customs requirements, and it ends up costing quite a bit more than some have charged. Make sure you ask specifically about your item when you find out about shipping overseas.

My best advice is to set up a shipping profile in the shipping step - it saves me a load of time when uploading new items. You can set up all your shipping fees and just hit Load Profile when you're setting up a new listing.
