I did have to shorten the collar considerably to make sure it fit on my kitty but that's what adjustable straps are for. My cat did not love the bowtie at first but she quickly got used to it. I think because it is so similar to a regular collar, she has otherwise resisted any type of bandana or cape. I bought it for Holiday photos with my cat and they came out super well. she got lots of compliments on the collar.
