"Waterproof Jewelry" is a recent and rather unfortunate advertising trend. Wearing jewelry to bathe / shower / swim is not best care for any jewelry, unless you are taking care to remove and clean your jewelry every day. Minerals in the water, as well as chemicals from soaps, shampoos, pool water, etc., will build up on your jewelry and will cause it to dull with time. Color change can also occur. Some gemstones can discolor or become weak.

If you desire to wear your jewelry to bathe / shower / swim, understand that how long your jewelry looks new will depend on how you are caring for it. Your best bet is to choose solid 14k jewelry or 14K gold-filled jewelry. Both are naturally less prone to tarnish and color change than Sterling Silver.

Bought this necklace for my daughter because she was heartbroken after losing a necklace I gave her.
