My mother gave big poinsettias to all her friends at Christmas. I'd accompany her down to Grant's Plants and pick from the thousands he had grown from stem cuttings he had planted the previous Spring. Then we'd deliver them to ooh's and ahh's early in December.
This star reminded me of that tradition many years ago.
It measures 9 inches and come with a silver cord for hanging.

I love big Poinsettias. My grandma could keep them going clear into spring. So I had my eye on this star since last Christmas. However, my eyes thought this was an orange based red but it is red-red. Which is just fine! It was worth the wait. On a magnet board that serves as a communication center between me and my son. It has started to be a traditionn to put a holiday star there for each month. Most often I use one that has lacquered paper on the back so that it doesn't need the sun to make it pop with color. It's fun to walk by it on a regular basis.
