This is an original 24" x 18" acrylic painting on stretched canvas. The imagery includes elements from a fairy tale: the trickster fox, lost children, a young woman, tempting fruit and a butterfly.
The edges of the canvas are painted so you don't need to frame it unless you want to. Initialed by me on front lower right corner and fully signed on the back. This is a 2013 painting.
I think each painting is different for each person; we read into it our personal connotations and make it our own. Fairy tales were not always sweet stories; many of them originated as cautionary tales and touch upon the perils of growing up: the sly fox or the wolf in the woods, the tempting but poisonous fruit or candy, the untrustworthy adult. But they also contain appealing elements of adventure and coming-of-age that intrigue people of all ages and cause the stories to be told over an over throughout the generations. (Those are just a few things that were going through my mind as I painted this...)
