This sweet little layette for a new baby is adorable. It consists of a matinee jacket, a pair of bootees and a bonnet. The jacket is knitted in separate pieces from the bottom up.

This pattern was originally written for quick knitting yarn, which falls somewhere between a 4ply weight and a DK weight yarn. To make the whole set you would need approximately 3 x 50g balls of a yarn that knits to the required tension.

Materials:
Matinee Coat
3oz baby quick knitting
A pair of 4mm (UK8:US6) knitting needles
3 buttons

Bonnet:
1oz baby quick knitting
A pair of 4mm (UK8:US6) knitting needles
A pair of 3.25mm (UK10:US3) knitting needles
Length of ribbon

Bootees:
1oz baby quick knitting
A pair of 3.25mm (UK10:US3) knitting needles

Measurements:
Matinee Coat:
To fit chest: 17"/19"
Length, 9"
Sleeve seam, 4¾"

Bonnet:
All round front edge: 10"

Tension:
24 sts and 32 rows to 4in (10cm) measured over stocking stitch on 4mm needles for coat and bonnet.
28 sts and 36 rows to 4in (10cm) measured over stocking stitch on 3.25mm needles for bootees.
