I found this vintage silk scarf in a small shop selling vintage fabrics. Made in Uzbekistan from luxurious Uzbek mulberry silk.

It is new old stock. Must be 40-50 years old, but still beautiful - possibly even more beautiful than before. It was made of locally produced silk, here in Uzbekistan, and was stored in someone's chest for all these years.

It is made of lush crepe de chine, off white in color, with creamy overtones (yes, I do find something pearl-like in this softly glowing silk), a subdued sheen and long flowing fringe. It is smooth and cool to the touch. Please note that this is crepe de chine, and it is fine and lightweight albeit not flimsy.

This is a statement piece. The fringe is long and beautiful.

The shawl is square, about 55 x 55 inches (140 x 140 cm), not counting the fringe.

You could wear the scarf as it is, or you could paint it, upcycle it, teastain or turn into something completely different - you choose. It will still keep its noble nature, whatever the shape is.

Due to the vintage nature of the item, there might be a slight discoloration here and there, not easily visible. Does not take away from its beauty, in our view.
