The Ishtar Gate was the eighth gate to the inner city of Ancient Babylon, featuring decorations with dragons and lions. Dedicated to the Babylonian goddess Ishtar, it was constructed in 575 BC by order of King Nebuchadnezzar II. The model is partly based on the reconstruction on display in the Pergamon Museum in Berlin.

ASSEMBLY TIME - at least 5 hours

PRINTED KIT - this paper model kit is delivered unassembled, in a flat kit with all the necessary details printed on 7 sturdy A4 size paper sheets. You will need to cut, fold and glue the details according to the set-up instructions.

Things which are not included, but you'll need in order to assemble the model: time & patience, a hobby knife, a ruler, a cutting mat or hard surface to work on, white glue (PVA). A pointed stylus, tweezers and scissors might be helpful.

We recommend our kits for anyone from age 14 as building work requires patience, advanced motor skills and ability to read assembly diagrams and instructions. Younger modelers will need adult support and supervision.

If you work on Ishtar Gate project for school, paper model might be a good addition. Probably these pre-cut models are better for kids and generally beginners in paper model building since they contain less details and no cutting is needed - just folding and gluing:

Paper is sturdy enough but definitely not thick, it's easy to score and cut with a hobby knife (X-Acto or similar). It's not so easy to use scissors as some details are quite small and delicate so we recommend cutting with a knife. We recommend using a white glue (PVA, Elmer's or similar). You can use paper strips or ear picks for gluing tools.
