This is a BOLD painting. I started out intending to paint a pineapple cactus, but it evolved into something which could only have been WAR OF THE WORLDS!!
I take a lot of time choosing the color for the frames on my paintings; this one was difficult. The piece seemed to require something unusual. The bottom and left side of the frame are painted a bright grey-blue, and the top and right side are painted a dark olive green. I guess the fight for territory had to extend even into the frame!
This is an original oil painting on stretched canvas. The dimensions of the canvas are 16" x 20." The piece is ready to hang; it is framed in a custom, solid poplar, contemporary shadow-box style frame that is 1.5" deep. The frame adds an addtional .25" on each side. The back is finished with one centered sawtooth hanger and a felt pad at each of the bottom corners.
