Face and Body scrubs are a great opportunity for you to feel fresh, clean and alive by utilizing the exfoliating benefits of sea salt to perk up tired looking skin. Our bodies continually replenish skin cells and body scrubs help our appearance by sloughing off those dry, old cells that accumulate on the surface.
Sea salt is not the same as table salt. Table salt is more refined, therefore it lacks many of the minerals of the ocean and is left with chemicals from the refining process.
Grapeseed oil is the lightest of the oils, has very little odor and won't leave behind a greasy feeling on your skin.
If you prefer I can either add coconut oil and reduce the grapeseed oil or substitute coconut oil for the grapeseed oil. This blend will have a drier consistency. Just let me know.
The addition of the gentle cleansing action of castile soap assists in washing away those old dead skin cells sloughed off by the abrasive action of the salts.
Essential oils of basil, frankincense, rosemary and lavender serve to awaken your creativity as they help you focus on wherever your mind wanders during such pampering. These herbs are highly regarded for their refreshing and therapeutic properties in skin care.
Excuse the abbreviated lettering at checkout, Etsy only allows a set number of letter characters.
A second option for added essential oils are a gentle, feminine blend of geranium and lavender. Both wonderful for skin care and often near the top of the list for women favorites.
Standing in the shower, wet the areas the salt polish is to be applied. If you choose to use a salt scrub on your face be very gentle and don't let it get into your eyes. Use the scoop to mix it up a bit, as the oil may surface to the top. Water will dissolve salt, so try not to get water in the scrub or the consistency may get too mushy.
Scoop out a bit at a time and apply to either your entire body (use circular motions starting with your feet and work upwards) or just do the rough spots such as knees, elbows and heels. Some people just use their fingers to apply, others find it easier to use a washcloth since the body polish may be drippy.
It is your choice to finish up by rinsing off in the shower or stopper the tub and let yourself enjoy the luxury of a therapeutic bath. There is no need to wash your body again. You don't want to remove the beneficial oils. Once finished moisturize if necessary. Notice how your skin literally glows and is so very soft.
No time for the fuss or a follow-up bath? When in a hurry, you can still benefit from this salt polish. Just add a lump (it holds together well) to your wash cloth or mitt and wash as you would with your body wash or bar soap.
Salt scrubs can be used about once or twice a week but due to varying skin types be your own judge as to the frequency without drying out your skin.
Enjoy, exfoliate and luxuriate
