Whatever you keep in it, it will be a distinctive knick-knack to attract attention sitting on your desk or coffee table. A sure-fire conversation starter, this little box is finished with about 6 or 7 (I lost count) coats of non-toxic, non-petroleum tung oil and rubbed to a lustrous finish.
After finish sanding down to 400 grit sandpaper, I apply many coats of tung oil, rubbing with fine steel wool between coats. Finally, when everything is finished and dry, I cover the bottom with a brilliant royal blue flocking that feels like velvet but is actually rayon.
This one features a carpenter's hammer, but I have others with different tools carved on them: a pair of pliers and one with a carpenter's adjustable square on top. I have also done one with a stethoscope for a doctor, and one with a mortar and pestle for a pharmacist. If you have a tool or something else in mind, please by all means just ask! I also have an idea to do them with a photo under glass on top. If you're interested, just let me know.
Thank you for visiting my Etsy shop!
